With Jacob Hay’s father Damon, Coronation Street is about to introduce yet another potential villain.

Griffith hinted ahead of Damon’s formal debut that he might be making an appearance for other reasons, so it sounds like this.
In what way does Damon Hay fit into the Coronation Street narrative, and who plays him? Find out by reading on.
Who is Coronation Street newcomer Damon?
Damon wreaks havoc on Weatherfield as he tries to reconcile with his son Jacob.
Damon quickly becomes involved with Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson) amidst their financial crisis, thinking he could profit from that, while Jacob desperately tries to avoid him to put his drug-dealing past behind him.
Griffiths described Damon as “a quite a complex character, he’s Jacob’s dad but he’s quite sly, manipulative and a bit of a wrong ‘un really.”
“He makes out that he’s back to make things right with Jacob, but I think that’s just a ruse. He’s got an ulterior motive, and I think that will lead to him betraying Jacob once more. He’s just taking advantage of Jacob for himself, as he seems to have done for the majority of his life.”
In his scenes, Damon threatens Nick over the cash he borrowed for the Bistro from Harvey Gaskell (Will Mellor).
According to Griffiths, “it’s all about the opportunity for Damon and how he can get around Nick and Leanne, which is really by using a little bit of blackmail.”
“However, Damon claims, “Actually, I lent that money to Harvey so it’s my stake in the business.” Harvey had lent Nick this money for Sam, which he had invested in the Bistro. Nick made a deal with Harvey that he doesn’t want Leanne to know about, which is how Damon got Nick to work for him.
“Nick is forced to comply with his demands after he blackmails him and puts him in a position where he can’t speak up to Leanne what Damon desires.
