Although Abi Webster has been a part of Coronation Street since 2017, she has recently been absent from the show.
Sally Carman-Duttine, the actress, is absent from the scene; where has she gone?
What has happened to Abi Webster in the last year?
Abi has endured a lot in the past 12 months.
Seb, the son of Abi, passed away in May of last year after being attacked by Corey Brent and his friends along with his girlfriend Nina.
Although Corey attacked Seb, Kelly Neelan, who had slapped Nina just before the attack, was found guilty of killing him.
Imran Habeeb, Kelly’s attorney, and Abi had a one-night stand after Corey was found not guilty.
Corey was eventually found to be the killer of Seb, and he was sentenced to prison.
But it appeared that Abi’s marriage to Kevin was over once he learned that she had cheated.
Abi resumed using drugs, but she experienced a shock when she gave birth.
Her son, whom she named Alfie, was born. She made the decision to stop using drugs and put her mothering of Alfie first.
Abi engaged in a custody dispute with Imran, the father of Alfie, and his wife Toyah.
But Imran started making up the fact that Abi was still using drugs, and he paid a man by the name of Ben to claim that he had seen Abi purchasing drugs.
Toyah was so furious after learning what Imran had done that she plowed her car into a wall.
Imran suffered a cardiac arrest and passed away.
Abi and Kevin reconciled in the interim.
The courts gave Abi custody of Alfie under the condition that she and Alfie remained with a foster parent up until the point at which they were confident Abi could care for Alfie on her own.
Abi and Alfie returned to Kevin’s home after spending a few months with Wendy Papadopoulos.
Where is Abi in Coronation Street?
Abi hasn’t appeared on screen in a while. But this might be the result of her spending a significant amount of time at the center of some major storylines.
The actress who portrays Abi, Sally Carman-Duttine, stated earlier this year that the script “had gone quiet” and she was “happy to take a back seat.”
When asked about what’s in store for Abi, Sally told Digital Spy at the British Soap Awards: “The brilliant thing about the producers is that until you actually specifically ask [what’s coming up], they don’t tell you.
“I never inquire because I find it difficult to support my weight, so the less I know, the better. Otherwise, I would just tell you everything, which would be better for you but worse for me.
“I actually don’t know, but I do know that the script has become quite quiet, so I’m assuming that she will be content for a while. Which is perfect for me.
“I’ve had so many big storylines, I think people need a break,” she continued. I’m therefore content to step aside for a while.
Sally recently wed her co-star Joe Duttine, and it seems like she’s taking a break from acting.
But we’re confident that Abi will appear more frequently in the future.
