Sam Dingle, a stalwart of Emmerdale, has not had a simple time lately after being pierced by a tractor spike. James Hooton, who plays him, has spoken out about the graphic scenes he has been a part of.
During Emmerdale’s 50th anniversary week, Sam Dingle (played by James Hooton) miraculously survived after being impaled by a metal spike while attempting to avoid a stampede of cows. The endearing character has been recovering from the horrific injury, but on Thursday’s episode of the soap opera, when his son Samson Dingle (Sam Hall) says he wants nothing to do with him, his health takes a turn for the worse.
Samson is reprimanded for calling social services to complain about Amelia Spencer’s (Daisy Campbell) parenting abilities in scenes from Emmerdale that have yet to air.
Baby Esther, who was taken from the hospital and given to the teenagers to raise, is the child of he and Amelia.
Samson has not adjusted well to fatherhood, and on Thursday’s double feature, Sam is horrified to learn that social services have been contacted.
Sam, whose father Alice Dingle (Ursula Holden-Gill) died, expresses his sorrow at learning what his son has done and justifies his act by saying it was necessary to atone for Alice’s passing.
Samson strikes his father hard and declares that he does not want to be anything like him.
Sam, who is already weak, can no longer handle it all and falls to the ground as a result of his son’s harsh words.
Will Sam recover fully, or is he too frail to survive?
Actor James recently discussed his character’s health issues with thesuns.info and other media outlets.
James stated after being impaled: “What the show will throw at you is always a surprise.
“I was informed that this would occur, but the story’s conclusion is still unknown.
“Neither you nor the viewers know whether Sam survives or perishes.”
Many Emmerdale viewers believed Sam had passed away after the accident, so they were relieved to see that he was still alive and well in the episode that followed.
He clarified: “It is unheard of in soap opera land to spend so much time planning and filming a single scene. We spent pretty much the entire day on one scene.
They were useful in between takes because I had something to hold my knee while I was essentially hunched over the spike for two to three hours.
His recovery still has a long way to go, and the stress Samson is putting on him could have a terrible effect.
John said: “Sam and Samson in particular stand out between the Dingles in their contrast.
In that he doesn’t want the child or the responsibility, “[Samson] is just the opposite [of Sam].”
Samson’s personality has drastically changed since the birth of his child, and James said it has been wonderful to watch him succeed as an actor.
In upcoming episodes, will Sam be required to decide between his son and granddaughter?
