Freddie will be reunited with THE SLATERS as he comes home to Walford after a 16-year absence.
There is a complex familial weave in EastEnders that younger viewers might not even be aware of because the show has been on BBC One for more than 35 years. Without the blunt-speaking, outspoken Slater family, who aren’t afraid to stand up for themselves when necessary, the soap wouldn’t be the same. They will need to make place for a grown-up Freddie Slater, played by newcomer Bobby Brazier, even though their home may already be crowded.
How does Freddie Slater fit into the Slater and Mitchell families?
Freddie Slater is the young man’s nephew and is the son of Kat Slater’s (Jessie Wallace’s) soft-spoken sister Little Mo (Kacey Ainsworth).
Little Mo appeared in EastEnders for six years starting in 2000 and had a series of heartbreaking plotlines that impacted the entire country.
She was abused within the home by her former spouse, Trevor Morgan (Alex Ferns).
For years, Little Mo put up with his heinous behavior before taking action, beating him with an iron, and being imprisoned for attempted murder.
He attempted to burn down the Slaters’ home as retaliation after reaching an agreement with them for Little Mo’s release.
Little Mo later wed Billy Mitchell (Perry Fenwick), but she once more became the victim of a dreadful guy.
When Little Mo was employed at The Queen Vic, she became friends with Graham Foster, a patron who enjoyed crossword puzzles and was played by Alex McSweeney.
But one night after everyone had left the premises, Graham stayed behind and sexually assaulted Little Mo on the tavern floor, causing her to fall pregnant and give birth to Freddie.
Billy stated the child shouldn’t be held responsible for what had happened to his wife, even though he didn’t understand why she wanted to keep the baby.
Little Mo had given birth to Freddie when she returned to the square for Graham’s trial after being away for some time.
Billy and she made an effort to work on their relationship, but he simply couldn’t accept her son and the way he was born.
Freddie himself was in the midst of a plot point when he was admitted to the hospital as a result of grave wounds that people believed Little Mo had caused but were actually the result of Ben Mitchell (Charlie Jones).
Knowing that people believed she was capable of harming her kid, she was unable to continue living in Walford and instead went to Barnstaple with her son.
Before realizing who he is, Freddie will argue with Billy, the ex-husband of his mother, when he finally makes it to Walford.
Then Freddie presents himself as his son, but everyone else is already aware of the tragic circumstances surrounding his conception.
Later, Billy’s second ex-wife Honey (Emma Barton) is seen storming out and pleading with him to get in touch with Little Mo so she may tell her son the truth.
When Freddie learns who his biological father is, what will be his reaction?
Bobby Brazier, an actor well known for being the son of TV stars Jeff Brazier and Jade Goody, portrays Freddie.
His mother, a past Big Brother winner, passed away from cervical cancer in 2009 after being given the diagnosis while appearing on the reality show in India.
She chronicled her last few months, which sparked the “Jade Goody Effect,” in which more women sought out screenings for cervical cancer as a result of her candor.
