Many THE RINGS OF POWER enthusiasts are certain Hilbrand could be Sauron lurking in plain sight and have been busy speculating about his identity.
After being saved at sea, Halbrand (played by Charlie Vickers) and Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) arrived in Nmenor in the third installment of The Rings of Power. As soon as she heard that the orcs had destroyed settlements in the Southlands, Galadriel was impatient to leave and get there. Halbrand, however, was content to remain put for a few days. Fans now believe Halbrand wants to keep the Elf out of the Southlands for a purpose.
Who is Halbrand in The Rings of Power?
It was revealed that Hilbrand’s forefathers fought alongside Morgoth in the Southlands in episode three, Adar.
Later, Galadriel discovers him to be the long-lost ruler of the Southlands.
Halbrand is hesitant to assume his role as King, despite the great need of his people to unite under his rule.
Halbrand declares that he is ashamed of his ancestors’ attachment to Morgoth.
Galadriel contends that they may cooperate to unite the Middle Earthan lands.
Is Halbrand hiding in plain sight as Sauron?
Even though Halbrand has officially come out as a King of the Southlands, the audience is not entirely convinced.
Many fans think that a significant hint in episode two proves that Sauron, the evil Galadriel is chasing, is actually Halbrand.
One of the survivors remarks that Galadriel does not appear to be a threat when she is discovered by Halbrand and his friends on a raft.
Looks can be deceiving, Halbrand replies, raising the possibility that he is speaking to himself.

Who plays Halbrand in The Rings of Power?
Charlie Vickers, a British actor who attended The Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, plays Halbrand.
Prior to this, he made appearances in the TV shows Medici in 2016 and Palm Beach in 2019.
Charlie is currently scheduled to play Andrew in Death in Shoreditch and Clem Hart in The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart.
