Actress Lucy Pargeter, who plays Chas Dingle on Emmerdale, has opened up about how she is handling her character being “hated” for engaging in a lewd relationship.
In recent weeks, Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) have become very close, as seen by Emmerdale viewers. Paddy Kirk, a village vet who is married to Chas (Dominic Brunt), is unaware that she has been having an affair with him for several months. Actress Lucy from Chas spoke candidly with thesuns.info about how she is coping with her character’s unpopularity as a result of being unfaithful to Paddy, a fan favorite.
For two decades, Lucy has played Chas on the ITV soap opera, and over the years, her character has been involved in some major plotlines.
Since cheating on the lovable Paddy with Al a few months ago, Chas has lost favor with viewers.
The criticism Lucy has received for her character’s relationship with thesuns.info and other media was addressed.
The actress, 45, acknowledged: “People really don’t like them together.
“You have the supporters, but Chas most certainly has the detractors because of what she is doing to Paddy and the motivations behind what she is doing to Al.
“But she claimed at the outset that there were no affections, and in my opinion, the reason is that she has to go to the gym and is pressed for time.
But she does have a little bit of time to decompress from everything going on in her life, thanks to Al.
However, as time passed, more emotion and affection surfaced.
I hate what she is doing to Paddy, we were never going to win people over with Paddy involved, Lucy continued.
Recently, her son Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) learned that his mother was having an extramarital affair with Paddy, whom he views as a father figure.
Paddy has played the role of his father ever since he first appeared on the show, even though he is not his real father.
We’ll see if he can restrain himself after observing his mother’s moral compass as being slightly off due to his love for Paddy.
“You have to suck up your own feelings sometimes and think, if that’s what my character is doing I am going to have to believe it,” Lucy said when asked about her involvement in the plot involving the village villain Al.
Chas has made numerous attempts to end her relationship with Al, but they continue to be drawn to one another.
Given that Al is Cain Dingle’s (Jeff Hordley) enemy, the relationship is particularly dangerous.
According to ITV soap opera spoilers, Cain finds out about the relationship in upcoming scenes and connives to meet Al in a barn.
Al is shocked to see Cain waiting for him with a shotgun and a look of determination to fight to the death.
Michael, who plays Al, said of his confrontation with Cain, a tough guy on Emmerdale, “It’s about time. Let’s get started since it has been in the works for a while.
It’s a situation that will undoubtedly arise. They’ve been joking around and trading blows a lot, but they’ve never really engaged in full-on combat.
