Will he ever reach out for help?
In tonight’s (16th February) episode of Emmerdale, Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt), who had vanished from the village, finally got in touch with his worried relatives Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) and Bear Wolf.
The police started looking for Paddy, but they stopped when they found him in a nearby guest house. As Bear, Mandy, and Paddy’s ex-wife Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) worried more and more about him, Mandy went to the guest house to question the proprietor, Jean (Emma Rydal).
Following her overnight stay, Mandy followed Jean as she opened Paddy’s door after realizing he had left, while fellow visitor Mark (Simon Fielding) attempted to reassure Mandy. Then Mark saw Paddy outside, and as he described Mandy and insisted that she was genuinely worried, Mark gently urged him to let his loved ones know he was okay.
Mark entered the building and discovered Mandy there with Chas. He took them outside and informed them that although he had convinced Paddy to speak with them, Paddy had since left once more.
After Mandy vented her worries to the business owner, she and Chas returned to the village, and Mark went in search of Paddy and informed him that he had achieved his goal, allowing Paddy to flee unnoticed. However, when Mark questioned Paddy about why he wouldn’t return home and what he was hiding from, Paddy responded that he was fleeing before boarding a bus, prompting Mark to yell after him out of concern.
Mandy’s phone started to ring at the Woolpack, and she and Bear listened with hope as they realized Paddy was on the other end. Mandy and Bear asked Paddy if he was okay as he made himself known, but Paddy responded that he wasn’t returning home.
Paddy asked them to give up looking for him in a phone booth. He continued, “Let me be; I don’t want to be found.” Paddy hung up after Bear tried to comfort him with some kind words. Bear reaffirmed that Mandy couldn’t track down the call because Paddy wasn’t considered to be missing, despite her desperation.
