Fans of NCIS may be surprised when season 20 debuts because Jimmy and Jessica may have to deal with a complicated love triangle.
NCIS is scheduled to premiere on CBS next week with its milestone 20th season. The showrunner has alluded to a potential love triangle for Jimmy Palmer (played by Brian Dietzen) and Jessica Knight (Katrina Law), who are currently developing a brand-new romance.
Although the NCIS season 19 finale devastated the audience, Jimmy and Jessica’s official engagement thrilled them even more.
The show made hints about a potential romance between the two characters throughout Season 19, but it wasn’t until the episode Thick As Thieves that viewers could actually see the spark.
Jimmy had been Jessica’s date to a wedding, and he had been visibly surprised to see her wearing a dress.
In the finale, as Jessica filled out a form to declare their workplace romance, the new couple decided to go public with their relationship as they continued to flirt.
While we anticipate the relationship growing, we should be aware that this happiness might not last long.
Showrunner Steven D. Binder dropped hints about the next episode and said Jimmy and Jessica might face some challenges.
He said: “Based on their personalities as a whole, they’re going to have hesitations.
“When you get down with a microscope and examine the details of how a relationship develops, there’s a lot to explore — the tentativeness, the awkwardness, how Jimmy’s been out of the game for a while, how you imagine Knight has been all over the game.”
I’ve been referring to it as “the season of love,” Steven continued. “We’re really trying to break it apart and explore the fun of each moment.”
He told TV Line, “So we may see a bunch of things happening, with a bunch of our characters.”
The first episode of NCIS will feature a significant crossover with NCIS Hawaii, bringing many of the agents together for the first time.
Given Binder’s most recent remarks about Ernie, there is a chance that either Jessica or Jimmy could be persuaded by a member of the Hawaiian team (Jason Antoon).
Fans should “keep an eye on Jimmy and Ernie” because they “both have a fascination with Agent Knight,” according to Binder’s warning.

Could this be a subtle hint from the showrunner about a potential love triangle involving the three of them?
In season 20, will Ernie also confess his feelings for Knight? If so, will he sabotage her developing relationship with Jimmy?
The first crossover between the two shows occurred in March, so this will be their second encounter.
After inviting Agent Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) to look into a fresh development in an old case, Special Agent in Charge Jane Tennant (Vanessa Lachey) was shown in the episode.
The episode will be the second season premiere of NCIS Hawaii, and the upcoming crossover will air on the 20th season premiere of NCIS.
Thanks to NCIS, a synopsis of the episode was made available to viewers. It stated: “Following the cliffhanger season 19 finale, with Special Agent Alden Parker (Gary Cole) still on the run with his ex-wife Vivian (Teri Polo).
In an effort to clear Parker’s name, the team looks into anyone from his past who might harbor a grudge.
In order to prepare for a global military exercise, director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) is in town meeting with special agent Jane Tennant and computer expert Ernie Malick. With their assistance, the group finds their key suspect, The Raven.
The synopsis for NCIS Hawaii reads as follows: “Tennant’s team tracks The Raven to the island of Oahu and learns about his plans to attack RIMPAC (The Rim of the Pacific Exercises), the largest international maritime warfare exercise in the world.”
