Viewers are finally getting the chance to meet Admiral Kilbride’s family just before the popular NCIS spin-off comes to an end.
NCIS fans were devastated when it was announced NCIS: Los Angeles would be coming to an end this year after 14 seasons on CBS. Thankfully, the spin-off has plenty of time to wrap up some loose ends, including the return of Hetty Lange (played by Linda Hunt), G Callen (Chris O’Donnell) and Anna Kolcheck’s (Bar Paly) marriage and even a long-awaited reunion for Admiral Hollace Kilbride (Gerald McRaney).
In the final season of NCIS: Los Angeles, Alex, Kilbride’s estranged son, will make a “rocky reunion,” and Christopher Gorham has been cast in the role.
The actor is perhaps best known for his leading role in Covert Affairs as Auggie Anderson.
Over the years, he has also made appearances in well-known programs like Once Upon a Time, The Lincoln Lawyer, and The Magicians.
Kilbride and Alex’s reunion is not anticipated to be simple, but hopefully they can work out some of their differences before NCIS: LA airs its final episode.
Kilbride revealed he has a son from one of his previous marriages earlier in the series.
He was also mentioned as having been an attorney, though it’s unclear if he still holds this position. He did, however, develop a drug habit at one point.
Thankfully, Gorham’s episode will air in the spring, so viewers shouldn’t have to wait long to learn more.
Additionally, it was revealed that Marilu Henner would play Kilbride’s ex-wife, who desires for them both to get back in touch with Alex.
Henner will sadly not be showing up in Gorham’s episode, and it is unknown if they will appear again later in the season.
Gorham’s selection, however, is a thrilling possibility for viewers who have been eager to learn more about Kilbride’s mysterious life away from NCIS HQ.
Kilbride first discusses his family’s mistakes in season 13, urging Marty Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) and Kensi Blye (Daniela Ruah) not to make the same mistakes.
He declared, “I have devoted my life to the Navy, and I am proud of the career I’ve had.
But if I didn’t mention the other side of that coin, I would be negligent. My son wanted a father, and my wife wanted a husband, but I was neither.
At least my wife was aware of what she was signing up for. My son was powerless to resist. And I don’t think about whether it was all worth it for more than a day every day.
My son might have enjoyed his adolescence instead of spending it in rehab if the process for adoptive parents was half as rigorous as what you and Agent Blye are going through.
Kilbride will hopefully have the opportunity to repair some of the bridges he destroyed when his son was younger after making his heartbreaking confession.
Kilbride was urged by Deeks to call Alex because it had been 10 years since their last conversation, but this hasn’t happened yet.
Showrunner R Scott Gemmill is hoping to end NCIS: LA on a positive note because the series will end after the season finale airs in May.
While viewers eagerly await Operations Manager Hetty’s final reunion with the group, maybe Kilbride can also receive the happy ending he merits.
