EastEnders Queen Vic landlord Mick Carter has left Walford for good after a heartbreaking reunion with Linda Carter.
Once Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) was revealed to be a liar, Mick Carter (played by Danny Dyer) and Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) were finally reunited, leaving EastEnders viewers in tears. The owner of the Queen Vic was last seen swimming out to sea to save Linda after a car carrying both Janine and Linda slid off a cliff’s edge. However, Chris Clenshaw, the executive boss, and soap actor Danny announced that the beloved character had a “different ending.”
Speaking candidly about the heartbreaking exit, Danny acknowledged he gave leaving the serial opera “long and hard” thought.
“This is quite emotionally taxing for me. I have a strong bond with the show, Danny said to Express.co.uk and other media.
“I’ve been in this business for 30 years, and I’ve been on this show for almost 10 of those years.
“I didn’t make the decision I made lightly because it’s a significant job to walk away from, and I struggled long and hard about it,” the decision-maker said.

Danny, a star of EastEnders, added, “I wanted it to be a suitable end, so hopefully it is.
To be honest, there was an alternative conclusion, but we decided against it.
What the alternate ending would have meant for Mick, the actor suggested, would be “no point” to explain.
Showrunner Chris stated, “There’s usually a lot more time when we do the development process.
Early this year, EastEnders revealed Danny was leaving, and showrunner Chris said it wasn’t simple to write Mick’s easy.
He expressed his gratitude for Danny remaining a little longer and allowing us our Christmas Day departure.
“I believe what’s incredibly crucial is that we give the viewers big drama on Christmas Day, and I think there isn’t any larger drama than Mick’s departure,” the actor said.
We had to get the two of them back together, and that was crucial.
“If you know the history of these two characters, they are the love of each other’s lives, that’s in their DNA.
“And what was a challenge for us was to find a way to exit Mick while keeping hold of Linda because this is Mick wouldn’t leave Linda and wouldn’t leave his kids so that was incredibly difficult.
“But we did reconcile them I think that’s a beautiful moment.”
EastEnders spoilers confirm the fallout of Christmas Day will be felt all around the square.
On Tuesday morning, the people of Walford discover that The Vic won’t be opening.
Everyone is in shock as word of what transpired spreads.
