Karen Blick is behind Emmerdale’s Lydia Dingle who has been in the soap for six years.
Emmerdale celebrated its 50th-anniversary last month which brought plenty of drama to the village. The Dingle family was at the heart of much of the action with Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley) accused of murdering Al Chapman (Michael Wildman). Even those who have married into the Dingle’s have had a troubled life, including Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick).
Two years ago, the police discovered a baby’s body on the grounds of Jessie Dingle’s (Sandra Marvin) school.
A DNA profile was created and it didn’t take too long for them to find that the mother was Jenny Finn, a name that hadn’t been heard of before.
But when a photo started circulating of the mum, she bared a striking resemblance to Lydia.
She came clean, explaining she had given birth in the toilets of her children’s home, but when she realised the baby was stillborn, Jenny laid him to rest in the woods.
The teenager ran away, vowing to start a new life and changed her name to Lydia.
Does Emmerdale star Karen Blick have children?
Yes, Emmerdale actress Karen Blick has two children who she shares with husband Simon.
They got married in 2011 but had first met in 1996 when they were both working for an outdoor children’s pursuit company.
The year prior to the ceremony though, they welcomed their daughter Ruby into the world.
Two years after getting hitched, the couple had their son Oliver as well.
Blick prefers to keep the identity of her children mostly out of public viewing but does share the occasional photo of her children on Instagram.
She does, however, give small insights into their lives, spending time at home, eating pancakes, and going for morning walks.
Earlier this year, Blick posted: “Sunday stroll. Youngest pipes up ‘Is there anything fun here? An ice cream, a slide? Anything?'”
It hasn’t all been fun and games though, as Blick revealed her son Oliver had an accident while playing.
She shared with her fans: “Big thank you to fab staff at @AiredaleNHSFT for looking after our youngest after he broke his leg falling off his scooter.
“Full pot on poor kid but he’s charging everyone £1 to sign it.”
Blick joked that she was “raising a capitalist”, asking only for paper money in exchange for signing his cast.
She also stated that Blick was “too small for crutches” so had to use a frame to walk.
This week, Lydia will try and encourage Samson Dingle (Sam Hall) to look after baby Esther by leaving him alone to look after her.
However, this only makes Samson fuming and want to puts his new baby daughter up for adoption but will he try and go through with it?
