Is the Coronation Street star married? Jodie Prenger joined the cobbles as Glenda Shuttleworth in the summer.
The cast of Coronation Street grew slightly when Glenda Shuttleworth, the cruise performer sister of funeral director George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley), appeared on the street.
With a job at the Rovers Return and her feet up at Eileen Grimshaw’s (Sue Cleaver) house, she has quickly gotten settled in Weatherfield. But what else is there to learn about the singer and actress Jodie Prenger when she’s not part of the ITV show?
Is Coronation Street star Jodie Prenger married?
Actress Jodie Prenger of Coronation Street got engaged to businessman Simon Booth in 2010.
Although the specifics of how they met are unknown, the couple did become engaged a few years later.
However, their happy ending was marred by heartache when Jodie’s father Marty tragically passed away from kidney cancer a few days later.
Naturally, Jodie experienced a range of emotions at this time in her life.
She told Hello! magazine in 2012: “I’m just so glad Dad knew I was going to be taken care of.
“Dad loved Simon like a son and always said I’d be safe with him. Simon’s a good man with a good soul, just like my dad.”
While the couple have stayed together for more than a decade, Jodie and Simon haven’t yet tied the knot.
But Jodie’s career has truly catapulted during this time, following her initial success on a TV show.
Jodie was chosen as the winner of BBC’s I’d Do Anything in May 2008, where she competed for the opportunity to play Nancy in the acclaimed West End production of Oliver.
Following her victory, Jodie joined ITV’s Loose Women as a guest panelist and hosted the BBC One midweek lottery draw.
In June 2011 she played Linda Wickes in Waterloo Road, and in 2013 she took part in Let’s Dance for Comic Relief.
The winner was Antony Cotton, who is now Jodie’s co-star on Corrie.
Jodie has been engaged before, however, and she previously said yes to a man named Steve Greengrass.
After week three of I’d Do Anything in 2008, he proposed, but Jodie called the engagement off a few weeks before the show’s conclusion.
She is currently working hard on the Coronation Street set in addition to spending time with her long-term fiancé Simon.
She most recently filmed this year’s Britain Get Singing on ITV show, which featured celebrities from the small screen singing for a good cause.
