This week, the proud Merseyside native has become involved in another important Weatherfield storyline.
One of the most adored characters on Coronation Street is Jude Riordan.
Sam Blakeman, played by the 11-year-old, has delighted soap opera viewers ever since he first appeared on Weatherfield in 2020. Since then, he has had a difficult time on the show because he lost his mother, Natasha, when the murderous Harvey Mellor shot her by accident.
Since Jude told his nan Audrey Roberts that he wanted to see the Northern Lights in Canada, he has become involved in yet another troubling plot this week. They suggested staying in one of his properties to save money, which unknowingly foiled the murderer Stephen Reid’s plans.
Jude has received praise for his work in Corrie, earning him a National Television Award for Best Newcomer the previous year. He was nominated for Best Young Performer at the Inside Soap Awards this year, demonstrating how his performances have continued to garner accolades.
Since Jude’s father has built a successful career as a television director, showbiz runs in the family. Before earning directing credits for well-known soap operas like Emmerdale and Casualty, Paul Riordan made his debut in a behind-the-scenes role in Hollyoaks.
Jude’s mother manages his social media accounts, and for Paul’s birthday in April, she shared a sweet photo of the two on Instagram.
Jude supports the renowned Rugby League team from St Helens with pride. He also supports Liverpool FC passionately, and in 2020, after Jurgen Klopp’s team won the Premier League, his mother posted a photo of him celebrating in the recognizable red shirt.
Jude has had a fruitful career outside of Weatherfield as well. His mother posted a picture of him from his first acting gig as Little Phil in the CBBC adaptation of Jaqueline Wilson’s Katy earlier this week on Instagram.
The heading read: “On this day five years ago, I finished filming CBBC Katy, my very first acting gig. Loved the way Little Phil played the part. Where I met TV star @chloelea 19, the cast and crew were fantastic. Lucky me, cbbc, Katy, Jacqueline Wilson, First Acting Job, Little Phil, Young Performer, BBC Miniseries, Forever 6”
Jude currently plays Tyler in the comedy series Brassic on Sky. He co-stars in the program with Joe Gilgun and Michelle Keegan, both former Emmerdale actors.
When Jude revealed Brassic would return for season five in 2019, he delighted fans. He stated: “Tyler returns for Brassic season five. Have you already seen Brassic 4? I can’t wait to watch every series once I turn 15! I recorded August’s first day.”
