Billy Mitchell has been a part of EastEnders since the late 1990s, but is Albert Square seeing the last of Billy Mitchell?
As the innocent cousin of thug Phil Mitchell, Billy Mitchell (played by Perry Fenwick) is the runt of the litter in the Mitchell family (Steve McFadden). He first appeared in EastEnders in 1998 and has lived in Walford ever since. He is a major character in the BBC soap opera. Billy, however, may be in trouble as he is scheduled to testify in court for murder.
For decades, DCI Samantha Keeble (Alison Newman) has been itching to exact revenge on the Mitchells, and a flashback episode that aired last year finally gave the reason why.
When they were in their teens, Phil, Grant Mitchell (Ross Kemp), and Billy accompanied their father Eric Mitchell (George Russo) to an armed robbery at a warehouse.
Unfortunately, the robbery didn’t quite go as planned, and Eric shot a security guard who later passed away from his wounds.
Unfortunately for the criminal family, the guard turned out to be DCI Keeble’s father, who has since vowed to hold them accountable.
Keeble wasn’t satisfied, despite Phil’s efforts to convince her that it was his father and not he who shot her father.
She is instead attempting to hurt Phil by having an adverse effect on his family and, in this instance, Billy’s life.
Billy was not only present the night of the murder, but he also bought the gun, making it possible to trace the weapon back to him.
Billy may spend a significant amount of time in prison as a result of Keeble setting him up for killing her father.
Is Billy Mitchell leaving EastEnders?
In the upcoming episode of EastEnders, which airs on Thursday, January 5, Billy will appear in court for the murder of Keeble’s father.
In the episode airing on Tuesday, he tenderly bid his son Will Mitchell (Toby Walpole) farewell and gave him his watch, which was a present from his brother Charlie.
Before Billy had to leave for court, the father and son exchanged loving words and hugs.
Although Billy is convinced he will go to prison, it doesn’t appear likely that he will be released.
Actor Perry Fenwick has not been rumored to be leaving EastEnders as of the time this article was written.
It doesn’t necessarily follow that Billy will be permanently removed from the show even if he is demoted.
Despite being imprisoned for a number of offenses, including his part in Vincent Hubbard’s (Richard Blackwood) murder, Phil continued to appear in the program.
Billy’s cousin has also been putting a lot of effort into coming up with a strategy to completely avoid legal action.
To try to bring down Keeble, Phil was secretly collaborating with his adversary Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters).
They did manage to get a recording of her confessing to attempting to frame the Mitchell family before she abducted Tommy Moon and Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) (Sonny Kendall).
