Chloe Anderson NIKAU PARATA
Early in 2021, Chloe and Nikau arrived in town; they had crossed paths in New Zealand. When her mother Mia was Ari’s partner and he considered her his stepdaughter, she had grown up with the Paratas. However, Mia had taken her away when Ari was imprisoned. Ryder was one of the first locals she met and he would not give her a beverage without an ID. She then made her way back to the Parata home to see Ari and Tane, who permitted her to stay as long as she told Mia. When Chloe and Nikau returned from a vacation up the coast, she discovered Mia had come to pick her up to take her home, but she refused to go she was upset with Mia for lying that Ari didn’t want anything to do with them. After being given a tour of the area by Nikau and getting to know his girlfriend Bella, she won a cocktail-making competition against Ryder and persuaded Ari’s girlfriend Mackenzie to offer her a job at Salt. Ryder’s connection with her remained hostile, and on her first day, she defied his orders.
She started to irritate Bella by spending all of her time with Nikau, which sparked a heated quarrel between the two girls. Chloe started spending time with Ryder after acknowledging Nikau and Bella would like to be by themselves. With Marilyn serving as the judge for their subsequent cocktail competition, Ryder placed the responsibility for Marilyn’s subsequent fall and head injury on Chloe. Unaware that Marilyn was a vegetarian, Chloe offered her a meat platter as an apology. Chloe and Ryder’s incessant bickering enraged the other kids when the four kids spent the evening at Bella’s apartment. Chloe was eager to bring Ari and Mia back together, so she invited them both to dinner and then left them to have a special meal.
She opposed Nikau and Bella’s requests that she and Ryder put their disagreements aside, but she complied with Ryder’s idea that they pretend to be friends for the benefit of their friends. She and Ryder, however, witnessed Nikau and Bella being pulled into a van as they were en route to a night of clubbing, and when Chloe rushed over to assist, all four of them were taken hostage. Paul and Leon, two crooks the Paratas had dealt with the year prior, were found to be the offenders after they had been imprisoned in a shipping container over night. When Ari and Tane arrived and started fighting, the foursome were quickly let free, but Mia insisted on taking Chloe to stay with her at the campground. When Ari was ran over by Paul, they went to the hospital, and Chloe asked Ryder and Nikau to assist her in returning to the Paratas’. She was present when Ari regained consciousness at the hospital.
After witnessing a different side of Ryder during the kidnapping, she kissed him and was disappointed at his lack of response. Bella and Ryder kissed once more but chose to keep their new connection a secret from everyone once they started chatting. They intended to tell their pals, but Nikau discovered them kissing before they could. They had to tell Ari and Mia the news when he was released from the hospital, and even though Ryder learned the incorrect Maori phrase from Nikau, things went quite nicely. They soon infringed on Nikau and Bella’s alone time, and their overly affectionate behavior irritated them. They followed Bella and Nikau to a cottage after they left without telling him, and they broke the gate. Nikau and Bella attempted to repay them by saying there was a ghost there, but Ryder and Chloe gave them the benefit of the doubt by making them believe Ryder had hurt himself in a panic before leaving them alone.
Chloe was upset with Ryder for not forewarning her when Mackenzie abruptly fired her, claiming they had too many employees. She was initially displeased when Ryder announced his resignation in solidarity, but they wound up spending their first night and the following day together. Despite enjoying their alone time, Nikau’s new modeling job persuaded them that they needed to get busy with their lives. When Chloe learned that Mackenzie had lost Ari’s child, she hurried to stop Ryder and was met by Mackenzie sending everyone out. Ryder then went to ask Mackenzie for their jobs back. They were thrilled to accept Bella’s offer despite their food shortage to Nikau’s first photo shoot’s after party.
When Alf requested a future strategy, Chloe said they were already working on something. When they learned how much money it would cost, they were forced to abandon their concept for a food truck. Alf, Roo, and Marilyn gave them a loan for the startup fees despite the fact that Ziggy was able to secure them a truck and their loan application was denied. They parked the taco truck outside the surf club, but Mackenzie quickly objected, forcing them to move to the campground until they could secure a trade waste permission. When they got back, they and Mackenzie started competing with special offers, ending in Chloe saying she saw a rat in Salt, which made Mackenzie angry to be forced to halt operations for inspection. When Alf and Roo questioned Chloe, she remained true to her narrative, but Ryder eventually gave in and gave Mackenzie the afternoon’s earnings to pay for the inspection.
Ryder leapt to conclusions when she called in sick to work due to a hangover and a pregnancy test was later discovered in her bathroom. Chloe corrected him after realizing Mia had administered the test. She was worried because Mia had previously experienced a series of miscarriages while she was dating Ari, and her brother Kauri later passed away after being born prematurely, which marked the beginning of Ari and Mia’s breakup. Although she expressed worry that history would repeat itself, she gave them permission to keep trying. Nikau invited her and Ryder to provide catering for a party he was throwing to boost his social media presence, and she rejected Bella’s allegations that the modeling world was affecting Ryder. She didn’t know how to to respond when Ryder yelled at her after believing for a while that Mackenzie’s body had been discovered in the water. She encouraged Mia and Ari after hearing the good news and saw how joyful it made them both.
Chloe was working at the food truck when it exploded the morning after she had gone to the pre-show of Bella’s exhibition. She ended up getting impaled through the abdomen and needed surgery but was soon well enough to be discharged. While they did have third party insurance, Ryder told her that the food truck itself was uninsured, leaving them in debt.
She argued with Ryder and Mackenzie, defended Nikau after he cheated on Bella, and attacked Bella for leaving him. She apologized but declined a request to go back to Salt. Instead, she was persuaded to apply for a job at the diner despite the fact that she found it offensive to be required to submit a CV. She was hired and got along well with Marilyn, but Irene wasn’t sure about her work ethic because she talked to Ryder for the majority of her shift. After hearing Bella imply that Ziggy should ditch Tane for Dean, she argued with Bella once more. Her worries regarding Mia’s pregnancy came true when, following a collision with Dean and Nikau, she miscarried. Ryder recommended taking action to To lift her spirits, she pulled him along to a touch football practice. She and Ryder decided to start a meal delivery company after realizing they needed side employment. She started using the Diner kitchen after hours to prepare deliveries for the company after assisting Roo and Martha with organizing their fundraiser, concealing the fact from Ryder until after the orders began to come in. Irene and Leah struggled to find time when they stayed behind to do a stock take, and they were so worn out from having to work their normal jobs the following day that they passed out in Ryder’s car.
Despite the fact that she and Ryder had worked all night the day before, she accepted yet another sizable catering order. Leah and Justin caught them red-handed, but they made a deal to keep using the Diner in exchange for Leah and Irene receiving a cut of the profits. She introduced Theo, whom she let to assist with deliveries when Ryder was too exhausted, and pushed Nikau to make things right with Bella. Ryder doesn’t like Theo, but she planned a party for his 21st and took up his offer of assistance. Theo offered to bring Ryder to the club’s covert party, but instead of doing so, Theo abducted Ryder and drove him there in the trunk of his car. Bella did not mention that it would have Chloe thought Ryder was ruining the celebration by bringing up their time being abducted, so she spent the evening with Theo, stayed with him after Ryder departed, and didn’t return home until the next morning. Ryder asked her if she’d slept with Theo during their birthday meal, which Ari made she attend. When Tane and Martha both developed organophosphate poisoning, she and Ryder went to the hospital with them but ultimately chose to split up. She became embroiled in a dispute with Ryder and Bella after Theo’s purposefully ambiguous remark caused them to believe she had slept with him.
She and Ryder sought to restart their firm, but due of previous events, they had to ignore orders and bills, which resulted in negative evaluations and debts. Theo proposed a means to make quick cash by filming Ryder and him completing challenges and sharing the results on a monetised internet account after Ryder unintentionally drained their account when paying an invoice. A chilli eating challenge was the outcome of Chloe’s instruction for them to each come up with five suggestions. Theo kissed her after Chloe recorded it for them. She remained silent since she believed he was simply doing it to annoy Ryder.
She was taken aback when Matthew Montgomery approached her at the Diner after hours and claimed to be her father. Mia had always told her that her father had no interest in her, so she pushed him away, but when she questioned Mia and Ari, she realized that Mia had been right. She decided to meet with him despite Mia’s warnings to avoid him and learned from him that Mia had vanished while pregnant. With the money he offered her, she was able to buy Ryder out of the catering company and settle her share of the debts. When Matthew arrived to pick her up, she witnessed Ari hitting him and told him that Ari had served time in prison.
