Jessica Falkholt, an actress from Home & Away, passed away four years ago after a car accident that also claimed the lives of her sister and parents. We reflect on what transpired.
When Home And Away star Jessica Falkholt passed away after a car accident in 2018, the soap opera industry was rocked.
Jessica, who passed away at the age of 29, was a rising star in Australia and gained a large following for her role as Hope Morrison in Summer Bay.
As Hope, she made her debut in the soap opera in September 2016 and played a recurring role up until November of that same year.
Her other screen appearances included the fantasy thriller Harmony and the Australian series Bite Club. Her career was flourishing at the time of her death.
We examine what transpired.
Car accident
After a Christmas lunch with the family in New South Wales on Boxing Day 2017, Jessica was traveling home with her parents and younger sister Annabelle when they were hit by another car.
Drug-using driver Craig Whitall lost control while rounding a bend and collided with the Falkholts.
Lars and Vivian Falkholt, Jessica’s parents, passed away at the scene of the collision.
Whitall was also killed, and it was later discovered that he had a cocktail of prescription drugs in his system.
However, horrified onlookers intervened and pulled Jessica and Annabelle, who is 21 years old, from the debris.
Because the witnesses were able to get Jessica and Annabelle out of the Mazda before the fire started, they were spared from dying from burns.
Sister’s death
The actress and her younger sister were both taken to the hospital in a hurry, but they both had significant wounds.
Sadly, on December 29, Annabelle passed away three days later.
After her passing, her partner Jordan Brohier paid tribute to her on Facebook, describing her as the “most amazing girl I’ve ever met.”
He penned a heartfelt obituary for Annabelle, saying, “Today I lost the love of my life.”
The three years I spent getting to know her were the best of my life.
I’m incredibly grateful for every moment I got to spend with my child.
I promise that I will find you somewhere, and we will be reunited again to live a long and happy life together.
Life support switched off
Jessica received care at the St. George Hospital in Sydney, where she also underwent the removal of a portion of her skull and one of her kidneys.
After being on life support for a few days, it was decided to turn it off, and she passed away on January 17 in a hospital.
According to a family member who spoke to Daily Mail Australia, they were at ease knowing that Jessica was back with her cherished family.
She is now with her family, which makes us all sad, the relative said.
“Her mum was her biggest supporter so I am sure she is in her arms.”
