Will he be back?
What does Harvey Gaskell’s (Will Mellor) future on the ITV soap opera Coronation Street entail in light of the terrible beating he received in prison in tonight’s episode (19th December)?
Well, let’s get into the episode first before we discuss that. After Jacob Hay (Jack James Ryan) reluctantly reunited with his estranged father Damon (Ciarán Griffiths), viewers learned that he is actually Harvey’s nephew.
Jacob admitted to his fiancée Amy Barlow (Elle Mulvaney) that his father had only ever let him down, although he held out some information because he wanted to keep his relationship with Harvey a secret.
Jacob told Damon how Harvey forced him into a life of drug dealing and even ordered that he be assaulted when she urged him to listen to him out. Jacob showed no interest as Damon apologized and expressed his anger at what his brother had done to him.
After Harvey was convicted guilty of his narcotics charges, the camera quickly shifted to him in prison. Harvey was shown sitting in his cell as the other man strolled in with a weapon, ready to deal some major damage, after one prisoner told another that Damon would make it worthwhile for him if he looked the other way.
Harvey had been attacked and was being moved for his own safety, which upset Nick Tilsley (Ben Price) and Leanne Battersby (Jane Danson). Of course, Nick hasn’t notified Leanne about his recent acceptance of Harvey’s funds for the purpose of purchasing the Bistro.
Nick was shocked to later run into Damon, who identified himself as a Harvey partner who would be involved in the management of the restaurant. Nick was worried since Damon seemed to agree that he wasn’t required but gave the impression that he would be keeping an eye on the area.
Jacob gave in when Amy convinced him to accept Damon’s invitation to lunch, but later, when he learned that his father had authorized Harvey’s beating, Jacob was outraged. What’s next for Jacob?
And when can we expect to see Harvey again? For all the details, continue reading.
Will Harvey be back in Coronation Street?
Will Harvey then soon make another appearance on screen? ITV has officially confirmed to RadioTimes.com that Harvey’s farewell appearance will be tonight.
It implies that Mellor’s evil persona won’t be making a comeback very soon, but may we someday witness him terrorizing the cobbles once more?
There might be a reason for Harvey to reappear in the future now that his brother and nephew are at the center of their own stories. Possibly this will occur after his release from custody, whenever that may be.
Keep in mind that Sharon Bentley (Tracie Bennett), who served as Rita Tanner’s foster daughter on the cobbles, is also Harvey’s nephew (Barbara Knox). Even if there is no word that Sharon will return anytime soon, Harvey still has lots of connections to Weatherfield.
However, as far as we are aware, Harvey’s stint on Coronation Street has come to an end. However, because the character is still alive and well, anything is possible in the soap opera world!
