Natalie J. Robb has played Moira Barton for over 13 years
One of the long-running actors on Emmerdale has discussed her romance with a co-star and the reason why her departure from the show is temporary.
One of the most adored characters in Emmerdale is Natalie J. Robb. Since 2009, she has portrayed Moira Barton in the ITV soap opera, which has featured some tumultuous scenes.
Character Moira’s marriage to John Barton was troubled, and she later wed into the Dingle family. Her marriage to Cain Dingle played a significant part in the show’s 50th anniversary celebrations last month.
When her husband was taken into custody for Al Chapman’s murder, Moira was inconsolable. When it was discovered that Kyle, Cain’s son, was the real murderer, the plot took a shocking turn. In an effort to defend Kyle, Cain has since entered a guilty plea.
Amy, Kyle’s mother, is about to take him out of Emmerdale, and rumors have it that Moira will also soon be leaving the Yorkshire town. As part of the historic 50th birthday celebrations, important characters like Harriet Finch, Liv Dingle, and Faith Dingle have been killed off from the show.
Up to eight characters could leave the show as part of the anniversary episodes, according to show executives. According to Liverpool Echo, Natalie has provided fans with comforting news by confirming that she will not be leaving permanently.
She said to Metro “She understands it, returns from Belfast, and declares that “it was a blip,” she is now fine, and that “we can make it work, we will make it work.”
“She is unsure whether she has the ability to do that deep down.
However, she feels “I’ve got to give it everything” at this point because he is the love of her life and she is a family to him.
“We acted out a scene in which she declares, “I’ll do everything in my power to keep this family together.” Moira has always been passionate about her family, so that is her thing.”
Thankfully, Natalie’s life off-screen is less dramatic than her on-screen persona. The ITV soap opera star is close with her cast members and has dated Johnny McPherson, who portrays Liam Cavanagh, in the past.
When it was revealed that Natalie and Johnny were dating and had moved in together during the first coronavirus lockdown, it shocked the public. The two Emmerdale actors, who had only recently surprised fans with their relationship, made their breakup official last year.
