The most recent episode of Emmerdale saw the tragic death of Liv Flaherty, but the cast and crew bid actress Isobel Steele a tearful farewell.
Isobel, who has played Liv for the past seven years, appeared on the show’s Twitter page shortly after the episode aired to say goodbye to viewers. Isobel’s departure has upset the fans, and even her co-star Michelle Hardwick acknowledged that she “cried my eyes out.”
Fans of Emmerdale lamented the loss of Liv on Wednesday night as she became the second casualty of the storm after being run over by a caravan.
Isobel, who plays Liv, posted her own personal farewells to Emmerdale fans on Twitter shortly after the episode aired. Isobel is 21 years old.
“Hey everyone, I’ve assumed you’ve now watched the episode where Liv’s died,” she said in a video eulogy. I certainly cried when I read it, so I hope it did the same for you.
It was a pleasure, My seven years have been the best of my life, and everything has been worthwhile because of you. I appreciate it very much.
Bradley Johnson, who plays Liv’s husband Vinny, broke the depressing mood.
He jokedly cut Isobel off: “Izzy! Security is requesting the return of your pass. You’re a little bit delaying your departure.
Get your pass, turn it in, and then kind of leave.
Isobel had been a part of Emmerdale since she was 14 years old, making her departure from the show—which has been on the air for 50 years—all the more heartbreaking for her and her coworkers.
Isobel’s video was retweeted by Michelle, who portrays Vanessa Woodfield, who wrote: “Cried my eyes out!” with a few heart emojis and teary faces.
In Michelle’s comment sections, viewers screamed that they, too, had sobbed during Liv’s death scene.
“So emotional even my big strong man had a tear or three,” one fan wrote.
While another appeared to have missed the memo to wait to check social media until after watching the episode.
They exchanged the following: “Whhhhhaaaaa???? Make a mental note to stay off Twitter before putting the daughter to bed.
More tributes to the actress poured in via social media, with many expressing excitement for what she would do next.
Danny Miller, another Isobel co-star, sent out the following sentimental tweet: “Thank you for the past 7 years. Aaron and Liv had an unbreakable bond. Never did anyone come close.
Therefore, you will always be a part of my life. Your parents will be extremely proud of you. You, our child, are now moving forward.
Danny facetiously concluded, “Love you mate. Awaiting you at the caravan
