Mark Charnock has played the endearing chef Marlon Dingle on the ITV soap for more than 20 years, but the actor recently shared a heartbreaking update regarding the fate of his character.
When Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) had a stroke earlier this year, his entire world was turned upside down. He was devastated by the idea of never working as a chef at the Woolpack again because he loved his job so much. The Marlon actor, Mark, spoke candidly with thesuns.info about his character’s prospects as he continues to recover.
After suffering a crippling stroke in March, Marlon has had a difficult time adjusting to life.
Marlon learns in yet-to-air scenes that after months of physical therapy, he is getting close to being able to work once more.
He learns that the pub is looking for a new chef, though, and begins to worry that his old position at the Woolpack might be given to someone else.
Fans are left wondering if Victoria Sugden (Isabel Hodgins), who he later teams up with, will assist him at the pub until he is strong enough to manage the kitchen on his own, after the pair work together.
Actor Mark, who plays Marlon, spoke candidly about his character’s recovery only to Express.co.uk.
“The only aspect of Marlon’s progress I can discuss is his progress,” he said. He is moving forward very slowly.
They [the writers] had to be consistent with this and have a very realistic timeframe, Mark continued.
“They don’t want it done quickly; they want it to be authentic. As a soap opera, we are fortunate to be able to do that and take our time with it.

He was also unharmed during the dramatic storm week that several characters experienced in the soap opera.
The village is adjusting to the recent deaths of Faith Dingle, Liv Flaherty, Al Chapman, and Harriet Finch (Isobel Steele, Michael Wildman, Katherine Dow Blyton) (Sally Dexter).
Even though viewers are aware that Marlon’s son Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) was the real murderer, Cain Dingle, a relative of Marlon (Jeff Hordley), could currently receive a life sentence for Al’s slaying.
After learning that Al was cheating on her, Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton), who was engaged to him, informed Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) that she would be leaving the village for a while.
She had no idea that Chas, to whom she had been confiding, was the woman he was sleeping with.
The disclosure of Chas’ affair’s truth appears to be merely a matter of time.
When Marlon finds out that his cousin cheated on him with his best friend Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt), how will he react?
