Max Parker, a former soap opera star, opened up exclusively to thesuns.info about a potential return to the long-running ITV series as Luke Posner.
From 2019 to 2021, actor Max Parker played Luke Posner, Wendy Posner’s son, on Emmerdale (played by Susan Cookson). Lee Posner (Kris Mochrie), who sexually assaulted Victoria Barton, was also Luke’s brother (Isobel Hodgins). Luke and Victoria ended up dating while he was living in the village, but their relationship failed because of their ties to Lee.
When asked if he would play the same character in the ITV soap opera again, Parker responded, “I’m a person of once you’ve finished a chapter, you finish it.
“I enjoy switching things up, which is why I became an actor—I get to do new things all the time.”
“So, at the moment, I don’t think I would go back,” he continued.
Parker has starred in Emmerdale as well as the BBC medical drama Casualty, the film Love Sarah, World on Fire, and Cobra on Sky.
As the star of the supernatural television series Vampire Academy, which is based on Richelle Mead’s book series of the same name, Parker has now largely left the village behind.
The show is set in a magical world with supernatural creatures such as vampires known as moroi, dhampirs who protect the moroi, and strigoi, corrupted vampires who resemble animals.
In the intense teen drama, the actor portrays Mikhail Tanner, a guardian tasked with looking after moroi royalty.
Parker isn’t the only British actor in the cast of Vampire Academy; there are also actors from Australia, the United States, Canada, and other countries. American actress Daniela Nieves plays Lissa Dragomir, while Canadian actor André Dae Kim plays Christian Ozera.
When asked about his preparation for the role in Vampire Academy, Parker said that after reading the first book, he discovered that Mikhail makes his debut in the second.
The TV series, he continued, was a departure from the novels but more of a reimagining of Mead’s original work.
Julie Plec, the creator of The Vampire Diaries, and Marguerite MacIntyre are the producers of Vampire Academy.
According to Parker, Julie and Marguerite are huge fans of the books and I believe they didn’t want to lose anything, so I believe we are in good hands.
“Being fans themselves, they understand what fans desire. They also wanted to develop fresh storylines because they are such talented writers.
Like the plot for my character doesn’t unfold the way it does in the books, he continued. You will therefore be surprised.
There wasn’t much information available about Mikhail in the public domain, according to Parker, who did a substantial amount of research before the show’s filming.
He declared: “I believe my character in the books was more prominent in the spin-off books, and I believe my character in the books was somewhat less significant.
Fortunately, I had complete creative freedom with Mikhail and wasn’t constrained by what would transpire in the books, which was both thrilling and nerve-racking because you obviously don’t want the fans to say, “No, this is what Mikhail should do.”
Amazingly, after reading some of the fan comments, I’ve learned that both Mikhail and my rendition are well-liked. As a result, I’m content.
Fans have responded favorably to the program, which recently wrapped up its runs on Peacock in the US and Sky in the UK.
The cast of Vampire Academy is hoping for a second season, so fans will have to wait to find out if there will be one.
