The former Ali Spencer star said the recent scenes of Amelia Spencer giving birth made her emotional
On the ITV soap, Kelli Hollis used to play Ali Spencer, Amelia’s mother, and she admitted that she sometimes wished she could have been present when her on-screen daughter recently gave birth.
In the Dales, Ali was played by actor Kelli Hollis for the first time in October 2011 and last appeared in August 2015. She was the mother of Sean and Amelia Spencer and the sister of Rachel Breckle.
The Brook Cottage was home to the family. Ali was also Dan Spencer’s ex-wife, and she later dated Ruby Haswell before she perished in a helicopter crash in 2015.
In August 2015, Ali and Rachel moved to Liverpool, and when the soap decided to kill the character off in April 2018, Ali was killed in a car accident in Liverpool, nearly three years after she left the village.
Kelli has recently put acting on hold as she creates a new, much quieter life for herself in Pattaya. When Martin was offered a job that was only supposed to last six months back in April, Kelli and her partner, Martin, whom she met in Leeds, temporarily relocated to Thailand.
The recent teenage pregnancy plotline involving Kelli’s on-screen daughter Amelia, played by Daisy Campbell, on the Yorkshire-based soap made her “emotional,” and a part of her did “wish she could have been there,” Kelli acknowledged.
In an exclusive interview with Leeds Live, Kelli stated: “Foxy (Liam Fox) and Daisy (Campbell) keep me in the know; I speak to them constantly; we’re really good friends.
I won’t deny that it was one of those occasions when they were sending me pictures and then the scenes in which Amelia gave the infant Allison as a middle name made me wish I could have been present.
Kelli mentioned Ali being killed off and said: “Since the time I spent there was so amazing and in the soap opera world, that’s just the kind of thing that happens, you enter it knowing it’s frequently fleeting, I genuinely didn’t mind. Therefore, I wasn’t offended or anything; that’s just how things are.”
“Emmerdale was such a great job to work on, if they wanted to bring Ali back in ghost form in the shower then you know, obviously, I’m there,” the actor even hinted at a potential ghostly return.
Regarding her future plans, Kelli added: “I honestly have no idea; it’s so surreal because I never even imagined myself doing what I’m doing right now. I had planned to spend six months in Thailand before returning home, but life is like that—you never know what it will hold. We will remain here for the foreseeable future, but who can predict what the future holds?”
