The last few months have seen a great deal of tragedy for the people of Emmerdale, but there will be more before Christmas.
Sam Dingle (James Hooton), who plays Sam, and his son Samson (Sam Hall), who plays Samson, haven’t had the best of luck over the past few months. Sam nearly lost his life in the storm in October. In addition, the family lost Liv Flaherty (Isobel Steele) a few weeks after Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) lost her battle with cancer. The pain doesn’t end there, though, as Sam and Lydia Dingle (Karen Blick) are about to suffer yet another devastating loss.
Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) was detained for the murder of Al Chapman following the storm’s devastation and numerous incidents that occurred in their family (Michael Wildman).
After discovering the two fighting, Cain decided to defend his youngest son Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn), who is actually responsible for Al’s death.
Sam and Lydia are about to learn some heartbreaking news about one of their cherished pigs this Christmas, continuing the unfortunate trend that seems to follow the Dingle family.
The Dingles have raised pigs on their farm for many years, but later this month, the last of the brood will die, marking the end of an era.
The heartbreaking news that their last pig is ill and in bad shape is delivered in the heartbreaking scenes to come by veterinarian Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry).
She informs the couple that their last remaining pig must be put down and explains that there is nothing she can do to save the animal.
As Christmas approaches, Sam and Lydia are devastated by the news and realize they must say goodbye to a member of their extended family.
There are other secrets that will be revealed, which will undoubtedly rock the family even more while the couple struggles with the sad moment in their home.
Will Ash’s Caleb Milligan, Cain’s hidden brother, makes his debut, and Chas Dingle’s (Lucy Parteger) relationship with Al may come to light.
Additionally, Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) is adamant about hiding his illicit relationship with Chloe Harris (Jessie Elland) from his partner (Emma Atkins).
Chloe, however, may soon shock their world when she admits she is expecting his child, but will she keep it?
Producer of the soap Jane Hudson talked about what the Dales will face this Christmas and what viewers can look forward to in 2023.
She said in an interview with The Mirror: “It’s not all going to be like that, but Paddy and Chas are at their absolute worst because the affair has been revealed.
It does not go well when they are forced to spend Christmas Day together. The other development is that Cain, who is still behind bars, will receive a visit from his brother on Christmas Day.
“I think viewers are going to love him, and you’re all going to love him very soon,” he said.
We now know that Mackenzie is the father of Chloe’s child, and it’s yet another village secret that won’t likely remain a secret for long.
“The marriage of Charity and Mackenzie, which will take place the following year, is planned. We all know that weddings don’t always go as planned.
“Chloe’s baby may be due around the time of the wedding, so I’ll leave it to you to imagine what might happen around the two dates, and it will be explosive for Charity and Mackenzie,” Chloe said.
Added her: “I’d say the Dingles are in for an explosive start to 2023. Cain is at the center of the village’s events, as we know.
“The Dingles are really starting 2023 off strong because Paddy and Chas are at the center of what is happening, along with Charity and Mack. Everything is happening for them.”
