Fans of Emmerdale think they know how Cain Dingle escapes from prison.
The Emmerdale episode airing on Boxing Day transported viewers back in time to the childhood years of Cain Dingle (played by Jeff Hordley) and his sister Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter). When Chas met her brother Caleb Milligan (Will Ash), it was clear he was regretful for Cain. Could he be the person who frees Cain from jail?
Cain acknowledged having a long-lost brother named Caleb who had visited him in jail to his partner Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb).
“I know how crazy this must sound, and I didn’t think I’d ever have to tell you this,” the Emmerdale tough guy said.
To be honest, I’m still trying to process everything that has happened because I know it must be difficult.
When Caleb learned that their mother Faith Dingle (Sally Dexter) had passed away, he wrote him letters from behind bars, according to Cain.
When Cain acknowledged he had known about Caleb for 30 years, Moira was taken aback.
Later, Caleb sat down with Chas, who was perplexed about his sudden appearance in the village.
Before he showed her a picture of Faith, he admitted that he was born in a prison and raised in a foster home.
“How could she do this?” Chas asked. “How could she do this to us?”
Chas then exercised. The middle child, Caleb, was born between her and Cain.
As Caleb revealed details about his past and his memories of Cain, she appeared to accept him.
Later, a flashback depicted the instance in 1991 when a young Cain offered to take the blame for Caleb’s error when the latter stole a car.
Because his boss had used the car to commit a robbery without telling him, Cain was apprehended and later sentenced to prison.
“When he came out, he was different,” Chas recalled. “He was always hard, but somehow it got worse.”
Caleb started to blame himself, which caused viewers to believe he might try and get Cain released from prison.
Swalk tweeted: “I’m guessing this Caleb storyline will eventually lead to Cain’s release? #Emmerdale.”
Ryan penned: “Moira in bed on her own. Hopefully, Caleb will help to release Cain from prison. #Emmerdale.”
Lisa McKenzie shared: “Absolutely spot on piece of casting/acting by the young Cain actor, mannerisms and voice were incredible! Gutted he can’t join full-time #emmerdale.” (sic)
Faizal Perager said: “#Emmerdale Chas has always been my favourite character and Dingle, so learning more about her backstory is always good.
“I think she’ll want to give Caleb, the brother she didn’t know about, a chance.”
