Nicola King from Emmerdale is still dealing with the effects of her attack despite receiving justice.
At the conclusion of last week’s Emmerdale episodes, Naomi Walters (played by Karene Peter) was relieved to learn that she had been found not guilty of the attack on Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler). Nicola acknowledged to Jimmy King (Nick Miles) that even though justice had been done, she still worries that she will experience panic attacks and never fully recover from the assault.
After learning that Naomi was present during her attack, Nicola started a feud with Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) and his family.
Charles was devastated when Nicola accused him of lying and reported him to the bishop before reaching a truce with the vicar.
Nicola rejected Naomi’s version of events despite her protests of innocence and continued to feel that she couldn’t accept Naomi’s presence in the village.
In the episode from last Friday, Nicola revealed her anxiety over having recent panic attacks and said Naomi, despite being innocent, constantly reminds her of the horrific attack.
If Nicola’s mental state worsens, she might take extreme measures to find a way to make the village a safe place once more.
Will she deceive the bishop once more to drive Charles and his family from the community?
At the Inside Soap Awards 2022, Emmerdale actor Kevin acknowledged Charles would be devastated if he lost his position as the village vicar.
“Charles would be devastated,” he said, “because he loves his job and also doesn’t want to be Nicola’s enemy.
“He understands what Nicola is going through, but he doesn’t think Naomi was involved.
“He hopes that a diplomatic solution can be found.”
Will Nicola be able to move on from the attack now that the perpetrators are in prison?
Kevin disclosed how Charles will be affected by Harriet Finch’s (Katherine Dow Blyton) recent passing.
He continued: “Charles will be devastated because Charles never wanted Harriet to stop being a vicar. This is before the storm scenes air.
“He wasn’t appreciative when she gave up her position as a minister to become a police officer because he was happy to help and for them to run the church together.
He was devastated but understood that was her decision. I predict a significant impact on him.
There will be a ton of storylines that branch out from people who were affected by the storm, Kevin continued.
“The next few weeks are going to be interesting, and that will get you through the rest of the year.”
Kevin explained that the effects of the storm will be extensive.
Naturally, there will be a lot of tragedy, but through it, the community will come together, he said.
“The storm’s aftermath will be more important than any family disputes or feuds we may have had.
Charles will be busy finding volunteers and fostering camaraderie at this time.
