For a special flashback episode on Boxing Day, Emmerdale viewers will see new cast members in some well-known roles, and the ITV soap has teased what is to come.
For a special flashback episode of the ITV soap opera Emmerdale, younger actors will take the place of Jeff Hordley, Will Ash, and Lucy Pargeter.
The show will travel back to 1991 and feature Cain and Chas Dingle as well as their hidden brother Caleb Miligan.
It happens after Caleb arrives on Christmas Day and confronts Cain for lying to him about their mother Faith years earlier.
After years of believing his mother passed away 30 years ago, Caleb finally shows up, only to learn she actually passed away in October of this year.
like Cain When Cain and Caleb cross paths again, the soap transports viewers to their first encounter, which occurred more than 30 years ago, and sheds light on Cain’s deceit.
While Chas in the present has not yet learned that she has a second brother, we also see what was happening to her at this time.
The actors portraying young Cain and young Caleb can be seen in new photos with Jeff and Will, while a different image shows a younger Chas with her brother.
Aiden Kane, Maddy Barker, and Riccardo Drayton have been cast in the roles of Jeff, Will, and Lucy for the special flashback scenes.
Before the episode airs on Boxing Day, other images from the shoot depict the trio in their respective roles.
Recently, actors Jeff and Will teased the major scenes and expressed their reactions to seeing the younger cast members portray their roles.
Jeff revealed: “We had the good fortune to interact with [the actors portraying the younger characters]. They observed us performing a scene, and we observed them performing a scene. The two young actors did an outstanding job. More of them are required.”
On Cain’s lie, he also explained: “We have this flashback episode where you get to see young Cain and young Caleb when they first meet. The reason he said that their mother was dead, I don’t know if you remember the episode we did in The Woolpack with Cain and Chas, and he talks to Chas about his coping mechanism for when his mum was letting him down was telling people his mum had died.
“That was his way of dealing with it so this is why he said it to Caleb, it’s not just that she’s dead, get lost, it’s got a reason for it.”
