Off to pastures new.
Emmerdale’s Sharon Marshall is leaving the program, marking the end of an era.
Because of her distinctive writing style and sassy humor, the scriptwriter is a favorite among the show’s viewers.
The This Morning soap expert has now approved her final script for the Dales, but she hasn’t said what she has in mind for the future.
Sharon tweeted on Friday, January 20, shocking viewers with the following statement: “My last Emmerdale is on tonight at 7.30pm. It has been an absolute pleasure and a privilege to play in the Dales for six years, but I’m off to greener writing pastures now. I will sincerely miss the amazing team.
More than 2,000 people liked the tweet, and there were many comments thanking her for her work and wishing her luck.
“I’ve said it before, but you are one of my favorite writers for the show,” a fan from the other side of the pond wrote. Therefore, you will have a following wherever you go (even if it’s just me and my wife in Canadialand, haha).”Thank you for the wonderful words, amusement, and sorrow. Looking forward to what you do next.”
Another tweeter asked what Sharon would do next and stated: “I’m sorry to hear you’re leaving Emmerdale; I always looked forward to your shows. Will we soon learn about your upcoming endeavor? Honestly, I’m hoping there are cobbles there.”
There is currently no response, but given that the writer previously worked on EastEnders before moving on to Emmerdale, there may be a chance that she will continue to write for soap operas in addition to her This Morning segment.
She appears to be taking a well-earned break with her family for the time being, though. Sharon, I appreciate all of your effort.
