Liam Cavanagh and Leyla Harding of Emmerdale have only recently become husband and wife, but their union has been rocky.
Since their wedding, the Emmerdale couple has experienced many difficult times, including the murder of Liam’s (Jonny McPherson) daughter Leanna Cavanagh (Mimi Slinger) and Liam’s infidelity. The couple ultimately decides to end their relationship, according to official ITV soap opera spoilers.
Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) and Liam attempt to reignite their romance in upcoming episodes by spending time together.
But the conversation quickly loses its momentum.
In the end, Liam concludes that they have done everything they can, but he also describes how, in his opinion, their time together has been characterized by tragedy, grief, loss, and lies.
They both decide that they are not a good match for one another.
Both are having a hard time accepting their decision and what has happened.
The devastated couple takes off their wedding bands after learning their union has failed.
Priya Sharma (Fiona Wade), who empathizes with Leyla’s heartbroken friend, quickly gains Leyla’s trust.
A few months ago, Leyla learned that Liam had kissed his ex-girlfriend Bernice Blackstock (Samantha Giles), but she decided not to confront him right away.
Soon after learning that Leyla was aware, Liam confronted his wife.
Despite his best efforts, he was still curious as to why she hadn’t approached him after learning the truth.
Leyla responded, “I’m allowed to handle this however I see fit.
She was able to let Liam off the hook for hurting her, but they both realized their marriage was struggling.
Just a few weeks prior to the incident, the couple had a major argument over Liam having to pay off Leyla’s drug debt.
Following a tense exchange, Liam declares their marriage is cursed to Leyla.
Liam said, “I’ve paid what you owe. “There you have it, then. You’ve received another bailout.”
Leyla apologized, but the two got into an argument once more right away.
Liam said, “I don’t know who you are anymore.”
Leyla countered, “I’m still the same person; I’m just not perfect.”
“Not flawless? You are afflicted, “Liam responded angrily. “Ever since I met you, there has just been one catastrophe after another; enough is enough.”
But is it really all my fault, is it? Leyla commented. Liam agreed and stated that they were both at fault.
He shouted, “It’s this marriage, this marriage is cursed,” and then turned to leave.
Leanna, Liam’s daughter, was murdered shortly after the couple’s marriage by deranged villager Meena Jutla (Paige Sandhu).
Could upcoming scenes truly mark the end of Leyla and Liam’s relationship given the tragedy that has overtaken their married life?
Fans of the soap opera will probably feel sad to see the once-powerful couple decide to call it quits on their union after going through so much together.
What lies ahead for the favorite Emmerdale characters? Leyla might decide there is nothing for her in the village and inform Priya of her intentions to leave.
