Following a huge hint from executive producer Jane Hudson, one significant character from Emmerdale might make a comeback the following year.
Meena Jutla (played by Paige Sandhu), Jamie Tate (Alexander Lincoln), and Debbie Dingle are just a few of the notable characters who have appeared on Emmerdale over the years and left (Charley Webb). And according to executive producer Jane Hudson, a well-known character might soon make a comeback.
The ITV soap’s upcoming storylines were covered by Jane in an exclusive interview with eastenders.live and other media.
She continued by hinting at a significant return to the village but remaining mum on who it would be.
After faking his death last year, Jamie Tate might return. He does have a son in the village, which would be a good reason to return.
He also wants to exact revenge on Kim Tate, the proprietor of Home Farm and his mother (Claire King).
When Meena went on a killing spree throughout the village last year, she also became the focal point of a significant storyline.
Although the serial killer is currently serving her sentence in prison, is there a way for the bad guy to return?
Fans would adore to see Debbie Dingle, another favorite, take on the same role.
The Dingles have recently experienced a lot of drama, so Debbie might be the one to put an end to it all.
Speaking about the upcoming 2023 storylines, Jane said: “I am busy working on summer storylines at the moment because I always like to have a bit of a spectacular.
“So if I say that I’ve got to come up with something now.”
When asked about any cast returns, Jane teased: “I can’t tell you that.”
She went on to hint that she’s waiting for the soap star to confirm their comeback.
The show’s characters that viewers would most like to see return have also been discussed by viewers, and many believe Jamie may be one of them.
Lizzie wrote on Twitter: “I hope Emmerdale gives Jamie Tate a return to Emmerdale soon. Maybe Gabby’s new love interest is a killer or gay or working for Jamie Tate or Alex, and it can happen.” (sic)
“Emmerdale boss said that big bang for next year and maybe Kim Tate have a baby for Will Taylor in Emmerdale next year and it the truth and wait and see first,” Elizabeth Edwards hypothesized. “And I think Jamie Tate return to Emmerdale.” (sic)
After her affair with Al Chapman (Michael Wildman) was finally revealed, Jane also discussed the storylines of Chas (Lucy Pargeter) and Paddy (Dominic Brunt).
Recent revelations about his wife’s extramarital affair have led Paddy to demand a divorce and custody of their daughter Eve.
The producer said, “We’re continuing our story with Paddy and Chas and how you navigate trying to be the best parents you can when your marriage has fallen apart and one of you has had an affair.”
It will be very serious and quite heartbreaking to watch what happens to one of our favorite couples before we tore them apart as they travel on their respective journeys.
