Since Nicky moved to the village to work for Kim Tate, Emmerdale fans have grown wary of him.
In recent scenes, Claire King’s character Kim Tate hired Lewis Cope’s character Nicky, a newcomer to Emmerdale, to be the nanny for Gabby Thomas’ (Rosie Bentham’s) and Dawn Taylor’s (Olivia Bromley’s) kids. However, the newcomer has quickly drawn the ire of viewers, who believe he is “too good to be true.”
Many fans have developed their own hypotheses about Nicky’s true identity, and some think he might be Lydia Dingle’s long-lost son (Karen Blick).
When Lydia was 15 years old and using the alias Jenny Finn, she gave birth to a stillborn child.
Fans believe that the baby may still be alive and that it is Nicky, despite the fact that she gave birth in the woods and buried her own child.
One astute viewer shared their theories on a Facebook fan group, writing: “I was thinking [Nicky] could be Lydia’s son, maybe he didn’t die at birth.”
“Did she not admit to burying her dead baby if so and her baby is alive whose baby did she bury?” asked Angela Louise Collins. (sic)
John Ann Thompson retorted: “Without a doubt! It would be wonderful if she learned he was still alive.”
A user named @Thedragon18137 made the following claim on Twitter: “Someone said Lydia from Emmerdale could be Nicky’s mum like her kid didn’t actually die at birth.
Because I love her and believe that she deserves to be happy, I really want it to be true.
However, @Bhoney1990 quickly disproved the hypothesis, stating: “I mean, I scoff at it. She did not bury the child. Like, did they discover bones, or will they soon forget that fact?”
“Kerry concealed Chloe. Caleb was concealed by Faith. Nicky might end up being a secret child given away, “Yet another fan posited.
Fan @fussyMcWhiskers added another theory to the discussion, though. It was said: “#emmerdale I didn’t anticipate Lydia being a little cheeky with Kim’s refrigerator’s “past the sell by date” items and using her washing machine.
“I wonder if Nicky will try to extort her. Not much to extort someone over, but I suppose that’s how he’d tell Kim, I suppose.” (sic)
Since Nicky moved to the community around Christmas, some viewers assumed he might be connected to another newcomer, Caleb Miligan (Will Ash).
Nicky turned down Gabby’s romantic advances in recent scenes after she leaned in to kiss him.
The knock-back left Gabby feeling humiliated, and when she realized Dawn had seen everything, she felt even worse.
The actor who plays Nicky spoke with thesuns.info and other media in an exclusive interview about his upcoming plot.
Lewis said, “Nicky’s a great character, and I’m just having fun with him. He’s very relatable and likeable.”
The soap star teased, in response to the question of whether Nicky has a troubled past, “Right now he’s a lovely person, and there’s nothing to say [otherwise]…he kind of fits the bill.
We’ll have to wait and see, but he almost seems too good to be true.
Whether Nicky has any prior ties to the village is unknown, but if so, it won’t be long before he is found out.
