Emmerdale’s Bernice Blackstock has convinced herself she has a brain tumour, but ITV viewers believe they have “worked out” the real issue with the hairdresser.
Bernice Blackstock (played by Samantha Giles) has not been feeling like her normal self recently on Emmerdale. She has been struggling to control her emotions and has been left fearing she has a brain tumour. However, ITV soap fans are convinced Bernice is dealing with a completely different health problem which is linked to her age.
On Tuesday’s instalment of the serial drama, Bernice became flustered at the salon when Bear Wolf (Joshua Richards) made an offensive joke about her.
When she leaned over Bear to reach the shower head he quipped: “I hope you don’t charge me extra for it.”
“I beg your pardon,” she replied as she accused him of making a joke about her “being a prostitute”.
When Bear assured Bernice his comment was “just banter”, she called it misogynistic and seedy.
“I was just being lighthearted,” Bear insisted. “There was a time when women could take these things.”
“Well those days, thankfully, are long gone,” Bernice yelled before she sprayed Bear with the hose.
Unfortunately, the water hit Mandy Dingle’s (Lisa Riley) new potential client instead.
Bernice, Mandy and Bear looked on in horror as Bernice switched the water off.
The hairdresser was struggling to control her emotions and stormed out of the salon, leaving Mandy to believe she had quit her job.
Later on, Bernice opened up to Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) about how she has been feeling.
While she could not seem to figure out the problem with Bernice, many viewers at home seemed to have cracked it.
Doreen Morfitted tweeted: “Seriously are you telling me that Bernice doesn’t realise she’s going through the menopause? #emmerdale.” (sic)
Kayleigh Natasha said: “Can someone please kindly tell Bernice she’s going through the menopause #Emmerdale.”
Ryan added: “No Bernice it’s not a brain tumour #Emmerdale.”
Chris P remarked: “#Emmerdale I hoped they’d do justice to the Bernice menopause story and the despair and many other horrible symptoms and problems lots of women go through. Hoping yes, holding my breath, no.” (sic)
Dion suggested: “Go to the doctor Bernice #Emmerdale.”
Olivia King penned: “When will someone tell Bernice she’s pre-menopausal? #emmerdale.”
Later on, Bernice confided in Bob Hope (Tony Audenshaw) by telling him: “I just feel like I am nothing.
“If I am not confused I am angry and if I am not angry I feel terrified. I thought it might be a brain tumour.”
