After eleven years in the community, Priya Sharma left Emmerdale and is now moving to London with her daughter Amba to start a new life.
It’s safe to say that Priya’s (Fiona Wade) departure from Emmerdale village hasn’t been a smooth one. Leyla Harding (Roxy Shahidi) was enraged to learn that Priya had accepted the London job offer she had been hoping to get. The two had a falling out, but the drama wasn’t over because David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) made the decision to kidnap Amba to halt the move.
In the episode that aired on Friday night, David apologized to Priya for trying to flee with Amba and prevent her from moving to London.
He acknowledged that London wasn’t too far away and that, once they had settled into their new home, he could visit Amba whenever he wanted.
As Amba and Priya drove out of the village, David waved them off while crying.
Fans have speculated that he will accompany them to London based on his emotional response and distress at being separated from Amba.
Although David has some connections to the community, given recent family changes, it might be time for him to move on.
David had to list his shop for sale because his youngest son Theo’s mother Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein) is no longer alive.
Therefore, now would be the ideal time for David to take on a new challenge and join Priya and Amba in the city.
Pete Leo speculated on David’s future on Twitter, writing: “I’m calling it david will leave the village by the autumn he’s got nothing left like ian beale #eastenders would say #emmerdale.”
“David is turning into a really pathetic character,” The Lanarkshire Lad wrote in a post. Let’s go! #emmerdale.”
“Should’ve been dimwit Dave going instead of Priya #Emmerdale,” wrote TeaTattle.
Although David’s departure from Emmerdale has not been hinted at, he might take a few brief breaks from the soap to visit the couple in London.
It follows Fiona’s explanation of her decision to leave her role as Priya.
It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make, she said, adding that she had spent 11 years working at Emmerdale.
“Leaving my Emmerdale family is a big thing, and filming my final scenes wasn’t easy.
“It’s difficult and depressing when you’ve lived somewhere for that long and that’s your everyday life. However, as every actor is aware of, it’s also crucial to push yourself.
Fiona gushed about her time on Emmerdale, calling it “a gift of a job! When you play a character on a television program like Emmerdale, you receive a lot of benefits.
“To be given a character you can truly own, and to work with amazing writers who help you develop this incredible character.
Additionally, the friendships and experiences you have are priceless.
