On Friday’s hour-long Emmerdale episode, Paddy Kirk’s loved ones gathered around him after his heartbreaking suicide attempt.
In the most recent episode of the ITV soap opera, Paddy (played by Dominic Brunt) made the decision not to commit suicide and was escorted back to Emmerdale village by Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) and his ex-wife Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter). Paddy’s mental health continues to be at an all-time low, so his road to recovery will be long. The next day, the lovable vet felt as though he couldn’t breathe and was smothered by his loved ones.
On the most recent episode of the ITV soap, Marlon and Chas tracked down a suicidal Paddy and discovered him in a field with a gun.
After a while, the vet put the weapon down and followed them back to the village, but his problems are far from over and it will take him a long time to recover.
When Paddy returned home, his family and friends surrounded him, and it all became too much for him.
His closest friend Marlon called the next morning to see how he was doing.
I’m sorry but I can’t do this today, Paddy told Marlon as he turned around and closed the door.
Later, while speaking with Marlon and other family members at The Woolpack, Chas made the following statement: “Not just having a bad day is being discussed here, is it? Paddy desired to end his life.”
But after hearing Chas, April Dingle (Amelia Flanagan), a teenage girl, hurried over to Paddy’s house to beg him not to kill himself.
Twitter users criticized Chas for being close to Paddy after his failed suicide attempt. Chas had cheated on Paddy with Al Chapman (Michael Wildman).
During the episode, Mike tweeted: “There are far too many people encircling Paddy. He is incapable of handling that all at once, #Emmerdale.”
Ryan had an idea: “Chas needs to leave the community so Paddy can have some privacy. He hasn’t done anything wrong, but he needs space and time to recover.”
Paul Gibbons lashed out: “Chas, why are you still there? Leave him alone to recover. #Emmerdale.”
The strongest storyline I’ve ever seen on #Emmerdale, according to Bobby.
@Liadsky added: “If Chas really wants to help him, she should leave him well alone #Emmerdale.”
Tina penned: “#Emmerdale The fact that Chas is still sitting there having anything to do with Paddy and his mental health is absolutely ludicrous and so wrong.”
Mary commented: “Paddy needs Marlon. He’s really vulnerable now because he’s ashamed and embarrassed too.
“Marlon is the only one he can really trust with his pain and his heart #Emmerdale.” (sic)
Fans of Emmerdale will recall that Chas had an illicit relationship with Al for months behind Paddy’s back last year.
One of the factors contributing to Paddy’s recent depression is the dissolution of his marriage.
Chas might benefit from a few weeks away from the Yorkshire Dales to aid in his recovery.
