On New Year’s Eve, Moira Dingle took a chance and put her trust in Caleb Milligan, the brother of her husband, which caused Emmerdale viewers to yell at their televisions.
In the New Year’s Eve episode of Emmerdale, newcomer Caleb Milligan (played by Will Ash) conned the locals despite their warm welcome. He initially balked at going to the pub party even though he had been invited. When Moira Dingle (Natalie J. Robb) learned that he had spoken to Kyle Winchester (Huey Quinn) before confessing to the murder, she began to wonder about his motivations.
The first scene of the New Year’s Eve episode featured Moira questioning Lawrence Robb’s Mackenzie Boyd about what he told Caleb to get Kyle to admit to killing Al Chapman (Michael Wildman).
Everyone began to grow weary of Caleb’s presence, even Kyle’s mother Amy Wyatt (Natalie Ann Jamieson), who claimed that Caleb had “destroyed their lives” and expressed concern that her son might be taken away.
The truth about Kyle’s confession was revealed to Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), but Moira was still suspicious of Caleb’s intentions because she did not trust him.
However, Moira was faced with a difficult choice when Caleb suggested that she seek the assistance of a reputable law firm.
She initially believed that Caleb was only seeking revenge on Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) as a result of their troubled past.
When she went to visit Cain in jail, she revealed that Kyle had gone to the police and confessed to killing.
When Cain learned that Caleb had spoken with Kyle and given him advice, he was devastated and indignant.
Kyle’s admission quickly took center stage at the New Year’s Eve party and became the talk of the community.
Amy explained to Moira how Kyle insisted that calling the police was entirely his idea and that Caleb had not given him any instructions.
The difficult choice that Moira had to make was whether to hire attorneys to assist Kyle or to heed Cain’s warning and stay away from Caleb.
Finally, she went to tell Caleb that she needed his assistance and turned on her husband, who was helpless from his prison cell.
Twitter users questioned Moira’s sudden trust in Caleb, who she hardly knew, and wondered why she had done so.
They worried that Cain would pursue Caleb if he learned Moira had betrayed him.
Yasmin Ali, tweeter: “#emmerdale Caine, you shouldn’t be inside while everyone else is ringing in the new year, Moira. What have you done, Caleb is not someone I feel I can trust.”

Added @griannedoherty: “OMG Moira. WTF is she doing right now? How the hell can she trust Caleb so easily when she hardly even knows him?
Not to mention that Cain is absolutely going to hit the roof once more, especially if/when he escapes and successfully pursues Caleb.
There’s a chance Caleb will persuade Moira to rebel against her husband in an effort to exact revenge.
She was unaware of his scheme, and if Cain learns she sided with Caleb instead of him, he’ll probably be even more driven to leave.
