Following Monday’s moving episode of the ITV soap, viewers of Emmerdale are convinced that Arthur Thomas’ secret is about to be revealed to the entire village by Nicola King’s stepson.
On Monday’s episode of Emmerdale, Arthur Thomas (played by Alfie Clarke) revealed to his close friend Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) that he was gay. Nicola agreed to remain silent after he told her he wasn’t ready for his friends or family to know. They had no idea that her stepson Elliot Windsor (Luca Hoyle) had overheard their conversation and would undoubtedly spill the beans before Arthur was ready.
The last few Emmerdale episodes have featured Arthur acting as though the weight of the world is on his shoulders due to his emotional struggles.
Arthur confided in the vicar that he worried about disappointing his devout Christian father when Charles Anderson (Kevin Mathurin) approached him.
Later, while watching his younger sister and her own children, Nicola confronted Arthur.
She gently approached him and inquired as to their disagreement with April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan).
Arthur asked Nicola if she would like to play a round of hangman with him after the other kids abandoned their game to go upstairs.
To figure out what Arthur was trying to say, she started speculating about the letters in the three-part sentence.
To complete the words “I am gay,” Nicola helped him fill in the last letter.
Arthur sobbed as he told his mother the private news, and his mother embraced him.
She reassured him that in due course he would be able to speak the words out loud after he explained that he wasn’t yet ready.
Nicola vowed not to reveal his sexual orientation because he had not yet wanted anyone to know; however, she believed his mother Laural Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) would still love him unconditionally.
After their tender moment, Elliot went downstairs, read the hangman sentence, and saw Arthur sobbing next to Nicola.
Elliot snuck back upstairs without Arthur and Nicola noticing as he quickly figured out what was going on.
Many viewers were left with the impression that Elliot would tell the entire school Arthur’s secret.

“Poor Arthur it’ll be all over school now, hope he’s going to be OK #emmerdale,” Jilly Gee continued.
Mother said: “Oh no! Her son now understands, and I bet he will inform the other students at school in Emmerdale.”
Yep, he’s going to blab, and Nicola will get the blame in #Emmerdale, Beppa said.
Pam also said “Oh no! In #Emmerdale, Arthur will believe Nicola has abandoned him.”
Daniel said: “Isn’t it sad that Arthur has to emerge in such a way in our modern world? Emmerdale is never something that straight people have to deal with.”
