In Wednesday’s episode of Emmerdale, Vinny Dingle abandoned a dog that he and the late Liv Flaherty were planning to adopt before she passed away. This nearly brought fans to tears.
Fans of Emmerdale will be aware that Liv (Isobel Steele) and Vinny (Bradley Johnson) were planning to adopt a dog before the deadly storm struck the community. Liv died when she was caught under a caravan that was swept up by the wind and killed. The dog they had agreed to care for, Chip, was introduced to a grieving Vinny on Wednesday’s episode of the ITV soap opera. However, unable to handle his grief, a tearful Vinny abandoned the dog by the side of the road, breaking the hearts of the onlookers.
Vinny made a promise to Liv in her final moments that he would get a dog and live their dream life.
But the grieving child is so overcome with grief that he finds it impossible to imagine life without Liv.
He threw a stick and ordered Chip to get it while trying to push the dog away while they were out for a walk, but she didn’t move.
Vinny said angrily, “Don’t look at me like that because I don’t care.
“Go and find someone who will look after you,” he continued.
He yelled as his rage increased: “Do you know what, okay? I’ll go! You don’t follow me; stay here.”
The dog, who appeared perplexed, remained still as she observed Vinny leave.
Twitter user @unsworth1live commented on the touching scene by writing: “#Emmerdale how could Vinny walk away from a dog as beautiful as her is beyond me.”

Vinny, please go back for Chip, @Eley01 pleaded with #Emmerdale.
@macnamara60 voiced displeasure: “I’m hoping continuity mentioned tonight’s “distressing scenes”? The way Vinny is treating this poor mutt would be the first time they’d gotten it right. I really hope she cuts his throat. #Emmerdale.”
Added by @Dan240993 “I am aware of Vinny’s suffering, but it is cruel to leave the dog unattended. #Emmerdale, “accompanied by a crying emoji.
@cb 038 raged, “Sick of Vinny being a selfish pk now, grow up fs #Emmerdale.” (sic)
Fortunately, Vinny changed his mind later on in the episode.
While carrying a picture of him and Liv, Chip had managed to find her way home and up to Vinny.
He picked up the photo and asked, “How did you get back here?”
I suppose I dropped this, he said, dropping to the floor.
He appeared to change his mind about keeping Chip around as he sobbed uncontrollably.
