Sam Dingle recently found himself in trouble in Emmerdale because he was having trouble supporting his family.
During the double feature on Thursday night, Chris Chittell’s character Eric Pollard from Emmerdale fell after Sam Dingle (James Hooton) accidentally pushed him while stealing diapers from the store. Sam threw Eric to the ground in a panic as Eric pursued the Dingle favorite. Sam was ultimately arrested as a result, and after Friday night’s episode, everything appeared to be getting worse.
Sam expressed his regret to Eric and David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden), the father, and pleaded with the store owner to refrain from making a formal police report.
After Eric was discharged from the hospital, Sam’s feigned regret infuriated him.
Sam was also concerned about Zak Dingle’s (Steve Halliwell) health because Zak had expressed concerns that his father might pass away if he were to be imprisoned.
He continued to express his worries to Lydia (Karen Blick) regarding his inability to support the Dingle family.
During a heart-to-heart, Zak told his son he was an “old wreck” but reassured him he wasn’t going anywhere.
Towards the end of the episode, Eric fumed that he didn’t care about the stolen nappies, but he was heartbroken by Sam’s betrayal after they had been friends for years.
Sam replied: “I never meant for you to fall. I am really sorry.”
“Sorry you got caught,” Eric fired back before Sam admitted: “I asked Cain to give Dan a pay rise and he said no.
“It was just a spare-of-the-moment thing. Please don’t make a statement.”
“You don’t care about how I feel,” the shop owner raged. “You just want to get out of jail free card.
“He has not learned a thing. You don’t get it, do you? I don’t care about the cost.
“I care that you have betrayed that friendship. The 30-year-old friendship and that is why I should be making a full statement tomorrow.”
A lengthy prison sentence could teach you not to steal, especially from friends, he continued.
If Sam is imprisoned and Zak becomes ill, a double exit may be in the cards.
Fans expressed their worries about Sam being imprisoned for the theft and assault as well as Zak’s health on social media in droves.
“Zak not looking too healthy,” Chris P tweeted.
Teena Massam went on to say: “I might look a wreck but still road worthy”…poor old Zak…”
“Jesus christ Zak looks f****d….” user @MickJohnPNEFC commented.
While Ed went on to write: “#emmerdale poor Sam he didn’t mean to hurt Pollard it was an accident. He didn’t think of the consequences he never does but he’s basically harmless.” (sic)
“Oh dear, Sam is going to prison then… #Emmerdale,” Twitter user @ShakyWoon theorised.
Doreen Morfitt wrote: “What is Eric on about? If Sam is an old friend why is he so keen to put him in prison? He’s got a funny idea about what friendship is!”
