Whitney and Zack’s heartache continued.
In tonight’s emotional EastEnders (3 March) episode, Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) gave birth to her baby girl after undergoing a termination to induce early labor.
After receiving a fatal diagnosis of Edwards syndrome, Whitney and Zack were heartbroken to learn they would have to say goodbye to their unborn child. Whit was also in excruciating pain after starting the procedure to end her pregnancy.
Whit started having contractions when they arrived at the hospital, but a kind nurse reassured them that it was still her birth and they could do whatever was necessary, including playing music. Whitney was having trouble, though, as her labor continued for some time.
It wasn’t long before the midwife returned and announced that the baby was now on the way. Zack gently suggested that perhaps their little Peach didn’t want to leave her mother just yet.
Whit hesitated when asked if there was anything to wrap the baby in because she wasn’t sure what was acceptable. However, Zack handed it over while wearing an outfit with the theme “Peach” in honor of their beloved nickname for their daughter.
Zack was there when Whitney gave birth, and she responded, “No, it wasn’t,” despite his assurances that everything was over. Whitney begged to see her child, who was then wrapped up and given to the young woman by the midwife.
Whit insisted that her name had to be Peach, just as it had always been, and Zack and Whitney stared down at their precious girl, knowing they would soon have to part ways.
Then, in heartfelt scenes that left us all in tears, Whitney thanked Peach for turning her into a mummy while Zack watched.
Whitney will experience new heartbreak the following week when she and Zack receive yet another devastating revelation.
