Nish’s deceptions were successful.
Some readers may find the discussion of coercive control in this article upsetting.
In tonight’s episode of EastEnders (October 31), Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) made a tragic decision regarding her future that was influenced by her cunning husband Nish (Navin Chowdhry).
Nish recently received his 20-year sentence for murder before being released from prison. Suki developed several family businesses and erected a wall around her heart during that time, and we eventually learned that the matriarch who appeared to be ice-cold had previously been under Nish’s total control.
Eve Unwin (Heather Peace), who noticed Suki when she started to open up to people, has since fallen hopelessly in love with her. Sadly, Nish showed up just as Suki was about to rejoice in her newfound happiness with Eve.
Suki brooded over her predicament tonight, aware that Eve was eager to see her again after her absence. Since learning about his father’s mistreatment of Suki, Kheerat (Jaz Deol) has been leery of him, but he pushed Suki to choose Nish over Nish.
Nish had already won over Kheerat’s siblings, he continued, taking his words at face value.
Suki made it clear that she wanted to be with Eve when she paid a visit, kissing her and promising to return to see her as soon as Nish was taken care of. But as soon as she was face to face with him, Nish started controlling her.
Suki questioned why he could possibly have any influence over the family businesses after such a long absence in an effort to maintain control. She remained silent, however, as Nish reminded Suki that they were still legally married and coerced her by implying that a divorce would have serious repercussions.
We can only assume Suki’s thoughts immediately went to Eve based on the troubled expression on her face as Nish described what he would do if someone got in the way of him and his wife. Suki met with Eve later and apologized for her error.
She explained that she would try again with her marriage because Nish deserved another chance. But until Eve insisted on speaking to Nish directly, there was no real emotion behind her words. Suki stopped her and warned her against doing it.
Eve pleaded with Suki to abandon Nish and be with her, saying that she knew Suki loved her as well. Suki, however, turned and left, leaving Eve inconsolable.
Suki was uneasy as Nish entered her home, settled in, and led her to the bedroom.
Will Suki ever be able to leave Nish as she turns her back on Eve in favor of her unhappy marriage? And now that the police have reported finding Ranveer Gulati’s (Anil Goutam) body, will Suki be held accountable for his death or the real murderer, Ravi (Aaron Thiara)?
