As Eve Unwin navigates her friendship with Stacey Slater and her romance with Suki Panesar, EastEnders actress Heather Peace, who plays Eve Unwin, has hinted at heartbreak for her character.
Fans of the BBC soap opera Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) will be aware that she is very protective of Suki Panesar (Balvinder Sopal) and her best friend Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner). However, as their families start to overlap, EastEnders star Heather hinted that if she had to choose between the two people in her life who were most important to her, it might ruin her relationships.
Stacey is currently in a relationship with Kheerat Panesar (Jaz Deol) who is struggling to keep a hold of his position as the head of the Panesar clan.
Meanwhile, Suki has been struggling with her sexuality and falling in love with Eve.
In recent scenes, Kheerat felt betrayed yet again when he realised his mother had been keeping secrets from him concerning Ranveer Gulati (Anil Goutam) death.
Spoilers confirm Suki will be arrested for Ranveer’s murder and this may be the final straw for Kheerat.
Eve might be conflicted over whether to stand by Stacey or defend Suki because Stacey would probably side with her boyfriend.
When discussing Eve’s inability to choose between Stacey and Suki with Express.co.uk at the Inside Soap Awards 2022, Heather revealed that Eve would never feel secure doing so.
She remarked: “I don’t think she could handle the fact that she adores [Stacey] so much.
“Exploring the friendship between gay and straight girls has been wonderful.
“That’s my life, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything like that. I have a ton of odd girlfriends, but none of them have ever done anything odd.
I don’t know what she would do, but I can guarantee that she would keep them both and work to find a solution.
Will Eve act as a crucial rock of support for Suki and the Panesars as well as the solution to keeping them together?
Eve’s intense feelings for the Panesar matriarch were reflected by the EastEnders actor.
The actress admitted that she had requested a change be made to a recent pivotal scene between Suki and Eve on EastEnders.
Fans of EastEnders will recall how Suki was discovered wandering the square in her nightgown by Eve.
“There’s a scene where Suki runs through the square wearing only her nightgown, and Eve grabs, and the stage directions said that Eve was drunk,” Heather said.
“I figured I’m not very good at playing drunk and there were a lot of scenes then I would have to play drunk [that were] quite straight, and I think Eve when she’s like struggling and is heartbroken probably goes to Soho and picks someone random up,” said the actor.
“They questioned why Eve was arriving on the square at six in the morning. She has gone out, is not intoxicated, and has taken a random person with her to her home.
“I honestly don’t think she’s ever had this real love, and I don’t think she knows what to do with it,” I said.
