Danielle Harold, an EastEnders actor, talked about the upcoming Lola Pearce storyline and called it “devastating.”
As viewers are aware, Lola will receive the news that she has a brain tumor in upcoming scenes, which will begin next week when she has a seizure and is taken to the hospital.
Given the scope of the storyline, Danielle, who has intermittently played Lola since 2011, acknowledged that it is a “massive responsibility.”
She told thesuns.info on the red carpet at the Inside Soap Awards, “There’s so much pressure to make sure you get it right and keep it as true for the audience as you can.”
“We’ve been trying to make sure we keep it on point and use all the research, and it’s been great,” the speaker said.
With the help of Brain Tumor Research and Macmillan Cancer Support, EastEnders is developing a plot in which Lola and her loved ones must deal with her diagnosis.
Danielle informed us that as Lola adjusts to her new reality of living with a brain tumor, the narrative will also follow the experiences of those who are close to her.
The soap star remarked, “It’s not just me.” The entire family experiences it. It’s wonderful to see how everyone responds and supports Lola.
The conclusion of the storyline has not yet been confirmed, and Danielle stated that the show “doesn’t know where it’s going to go” as of yet, despite reports that Lola is expected to die in heartbreaking scenes.
The entire process of dealing with a brain tumor and how difficult it is, she said, “is really difficult.” Until I did my research and read the story, I was unaware of how devastating it really is.
We don’t yet know where it will go or where it will end up, so I’m not really looking too far ahead and am just taking each step as it comes right now because it’s quite difficult.
