After being photographed kissing Sam Mitchell, Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) will have some explaining to do on EastEnders (Kim Medcalf).
The show’s resident cop turned to alcohol for comfort after learning that he was under investigation at work after his own daughter Amy (Ellie Dadd) complained about him.
As viewers are aware, Jack held Denzel (Jayden Ladega) against the wall while pretending to have had sex with Amy.
When Jack yelled at the teen, he was unaware that Denzel and Amy did not have sex and had chosen to take their relationship slowly.
Later scenes showed the detective being accused of assault by an unidentified person. Terrified, he came to suspect Denzel and Howie (Delroy Atkinson) of being responsible, so he went to shout the odds at him.
He had no idea, though, that Amy had lied to the police about his whereabouts.
He was devastated when he learned the truth, so instead of attempting to mend fences with Denzel and Howie, he drove to Peggy’s and began to drink away his sorrows.
Sam, who was working the bar, offered her support and assured him that Roxy would be pleased with the way he stood up for his daughter. Her compliments surprised Jack, and they developed a small friendship.
Later, as they were walking through Bridge Street Market on their way home, Sam gave Jack a kiss on the lips.
The two laughed it off, but Jack drew back, and it soon became clear that the private exchange had been captured on camera.
