Stacey Slater from EastEnders won’t have an easy start to 2023 after learning some shocking information about her daughter Lily, who is 12 years old.
On Sunday’s episode of EastEnders, a carbon monoxide leak caused guests to collapse and fall ill one by one at the Slater family’s New Year’s Eve party. After doctors later revealed Lily (Lillia Turner) was expecting, Stacey (played by Lacey Turner) was in for another surprise. The character will be “in complete and utter panic” as the unforeseen plotline intensifies in the upcoming days of the BBC soap opera, according to actress Lacey.
In the episode from Sunday, a toxic leak caused several partygoers at the Slater house to pass out.
As soon as her daughter is caught up in the confusion and is discovered unconscious, Stacey starts to worry about her.
Lacey described the plot’s progression in detail. When “people start dropping like flies around her,” Stacey realized something was wrong.
“Eve (Unwin, Heather Peace) collapses, Jean (Slater, Gillian Wright) leaves, someone enters and says Lily’s gone,” she continued.
“People are just passing out one by one, and I imagine Stacey realized something was wrong after the third person passed out. Eve’s punch cannot be the only cause.
The actress continued, describing the moment Stacey realizes Lily is in danger: “I believe Stacey experiences complete and utter panic as a result of Lily ending up at the bottom of the stairs.
She asks, “What the hell is going on here?” at this point.
Later, Stacey learns from medical staff at the hospital that Lily is in fact expecting a child.
Lacey said, “Stacey’s in total and utter shock.”
“They are discussing her 12-year-old daughter, who Stacey is aware of doesn’t have a boyfriend and isn’t particularly interested in boys.
“Initially, Stacey thinks that the doctors must be wrong.
“After that, she goes through every single emotion that you could possibly feel in such a short space of time.”
Later, the shocked mother had to inform Lily of her pregnancy.
The scene was challenging, as Lacey explained, adding: “Lillia is so brilliant that you can’t help but feel like it’s real when you are filming it. I found it really hard to say the lines.
Stacey has accepted Lily’s pregnancy at this point, but she hasn’t given it much more thought.
“She wants to try to stay calm and not make a big deal for Lily’s sake until it sinks in for her.
“When Lillia and I were saying the lines, it was so hard to get the words out of my mouth because I’d gone into the moment and felt like Stacey talking to Lily.”
The actress went on to tease how Martin Fowler (James Bye) might find out about Lily’s pregnancy.
“Stacey is treading on eggshells,” Lacy detailed.
“She needs to find out from Lily how this happened, who the father is, and all the details.
“But in order to do that, she must gain Lily’s trust. If Lily wants it to remain a secret, Stacey will abide by that request.
She “is just trying to get the information and build that trust and not break it,” says Martin, “which is why she doesn’t confide in him.”
Thankfully, her mother Jean learns the truth and Stacey can seek her out for guidance.
The actress continued, “Jean is Stacey’s rock, her best friend, and they have such a strong connection.”
“Since they have experienced so much together, Jean is the only person who truly comprehends Stacey completely.
“For Stacey to share this secret with her mum is a massive weight off of her shoulders, but she also wants someone to tell her what she should do.
“In Stacey’s head, she’s thinking, ‘Do I just go with what Lily wants? Should I be angry? Should I tell Lily she can’t keep the baby?’
“Stacey is just looking to Jean for some help. She wants someone to tell her, ‘Stacey, this is what you do.’”
