Will Phil Mitchell of EastEnders be able to convince DCI Samantha Keeble to leave him alone before Billy Mitchell is imprisoned for a crime he didn’t commit?
Fans of EastEnders were shocked to learn that Phil (played by Steve McFadden) had recently formed a covert alliance with his former adversary Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters) in order to prevent the police from looking into Phil, as DCI Samantha Keeble (Alison Newman) is determined to do. Can the two men rely on one another, though? It appears that the New Year’s Eve festivities for the soap villain might go horribly wrong.
Fans of the BBC soap opera were shocked when Keanu unexpectedly returned to Walford after a long absence.
He convinced the Square that they were still enemies upon his return, but it has since been revealed that he and Phil are in fact secretly cooperating.
Keeble, who thinks Keanu is determined to set up Phil, is the source of the information Keanu is gathering.
Keanu is keeping some of his own information from Phil, including the fact that he once had a romantic relationship with Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf).
Phil, who is sure to be incensed, walked in on Sam and Keanu kissing as the episode of Wednesday came to a close.
Could this be the beginning of the pair betraying one another?
In yet-to-air scenes, Phil is uncharacteristically joyful as he rings in 2023 with his family at Peggy’s.
But when something upsets his cheerfulness, he issues a grave threat.
Whatever happened, the thug appears to benefit from it because he soon plans a lunch for the Mitchell family.
While he reels in his victory, however, others on the Square are secretly watching.
Phil makes a very kind offer while in the height of his good mood.
Later, Jessie Wallace’s character Kat Slater confides in her ex-husband Shane Richie’s character Alfie Moon that Phil’s antics have made a huge mess.
Unexpectedly, Alfie stands up for Phil and says that even he would want Phil on his side if he were in trouble.
Billy (Perry Fenwick) is shocked to learn the entire account of what happened on New Year’s at Peggy’s.
But while he reels in his victory, others on the Square are secretly envious.
Phil makes a remarkably kind offer while in high spirits.
Later, Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) confides in her ex-husband Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) about the mess Phil’s antics have made.
Surprisingly, Alfie defends Phil, saying that even he would want Phil on his side if he were in trouble.
Billy (Perry Fenwick) is in disbelief when he learns the entire account of what happened on New Year’s.
When Phil realizes he has been duped, he quickly reverts to his previous behavior and becomes furious.
He makes the decision to act independently, which is rarely a good thing for those around him.
Phil is compelled to ask his enemy for assistance as his desperation grows.
Could he ask Alfie for assistance? Maybe he’s been hoodwinked by Keanu and needs someone in his corner who is fully aware of the circumstances.
Billy, meanwhile, confronts reality and makes a significant choice. He might decide to leave rather than go to jail.
Will Phil be able to carry out his plan in time?
Billy might already have left Walford, so Phil may have finally found a way to spare him from a life in prison.
He might have made the difficult choice to say goodbye to his family and go on the run because he knew he was innocent but didn’t stand a chance.
Viewers will be hoping Phil can prevent Billy’s unfortunate outcome and ensure he gets to stay in Albert Square if this is the case.
When the crime was committed, Phil’s father shot Keeble’s father.
Billy, who has only recently been reunited with his children and Honey Mitchell (Emma Barton), and is dealing with the ordeal of granddaughter Lola, may be the reason Phil has chosen to come clean about the crime.
