Following the devastating death of her soulmate Mick, Linda Carter, played by Kellie Bright, has stated that she will remain in Albert Square. Showrunner Chris Clenshaw has also revealed major plans for the landlady.
Given that the landlord and landlady of the Vic were heavily dependent on one another, producing one of the most iconic dynamics in soap opera history, there has been conjecture over Linda’s future since news of Mick actor Danny Dyer’s departure leaked.
On Christmas Day, Mick drowned in the ocean after diving in to save his soulmate Linda and saving the cunning Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) from a drowning grave.
However, despite Mick’s enigmatic disappearance, Linda is staying put, as confirmed by showrunner Chris. He assured worried supporters, “I’m glad that Kellie Bright is staying in Albert Square.”
We have huge plans for Linda, who has established herself as a matriarch of today throughout the years.
Linda remains a central figure in Albert Square.
Think of us as VERY thrilled!
The landlady of the Queen Vic will start a new chapter in her life without her soul partner Mick by her side. Since she has never really experienced life without him, this new chapter will be completely foreign to her.
Linda will need some time to move past Mick, Chris continued. It won’t be all smiles right soon since just as they were getting back together, he was taken from her.
Kellie reiterated this attitude and added that in recent sequences that she had just finished filming, Linda was still very much thinking about Mick.
He is her true love, she continued. I’m only up to February, but we’ve just finished filming some Valentine’s Day material, and there’s a small picture of Mick up above the bar. I wish him a good Valentine’s Day and blow him a kiss. In that sense, he is still very much there for her.
Chris revealed that Linda would be the focus of a brand-new plot that the show had never done when talking about the major plans that were to come.
He hinted that “Kellie” will begin filming something in January that would air in February and be a first for the show. “Linda is the focal point of that,”
While Kellie acknowledged that she is looking forward to what lies ahead, she also acknowledged that working on the show without Danny Dyer was “so odd.”
She continued by saying, “Linda is a tough cookie,” in reference to what lies ahead for her well-known character. I’ve always claimed that she is Barbie with an iron or steel core. She will undoubtedly overcome this, and I believe that her role as Ollie and Annie’s mother will motivate her.
“I am really looking forward to what is going to happen next.” I’m delighted about becoming a part of something that will be quite significant.
