Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) of EastEnders will regret the day she disregarded Shirley Carter’s (Linda Henry) efforts to gather proof that her new daughter-in-law isn’t who she claims to be.
As viewers are aware, Shirley has been working to expose Janine ever since the con artist got her hands on Mick (Danny Dyer).
Mick, on the other hand, merely thought Shirl had a grudge against his new lover and refused to believe his mother’s claims.
But given what the audience knew about what Janine had done over the previous year, Shirley’s worries were understandable. The manipulator, who has since repeatedly targeted Linda (Kellie Bright), single-handedly destroyed her fiancé’s marriage to his soulmate.
Janine was to blame for Linda’s downfall because she falsely accused her of causing a car accident and nearly had her cherished daughter Annie taken from her.
Mick, however, is unaware of everything and thinks Shirley’s worries are nothing more than conjecture. Shirl set out on a quest to gather evidence because, unfortunately, she had little to show that Janine was up to no good.
The well-known character was successful in doing so, but sadly, she learned of it after Mick and Janine had already exchanged vows.
Shirley threw caution to the wind and began looking in Scarlett’s (Tabitha Byron) room, hoping to find the picture that the young girl has been guarding, after learning that Mick was planning on selling up and moving with Janine to start afresh elsewhere.
When she examined the image, a selfie taken by Frankie Lewis (Rose Ayling-Ellis), she discovered exactly what she was looking for and noticed Janine in the background, throwing something away in the trash cans behind the car lot.
Of course, that something is the bloody clothes she was wearing at the time of the car accident in June when she moved Linda’s body from the passenger to the driver’s seat, blaming her romantic rival for the mishap.
‘Gotcha!’ said Shirl, before staring at the newlyweds out the window, determined to rip their world apart and reveal all.
