Lola Pearce from EastEnders is about to learn some heartbreaking information about her cancer treatment, leaving her worried about the future.
Danielle Harold’s character Lola from EastEnders was given a brain tumor diagnosis in October after passing out in the restrooms at her daughter’s school.
Since then, Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) and Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) have done everything in their power to support her during this difficult time. Official spoilers, however, indicate that they are about to suffer yet another setback, which will devastate Lola.
Future scenes will feature Lola and Jay visiting the specialist to discuss the clinical trial that Ben discovered for her cancer diagnosis.
Dr. Cunningham informs Lola that it is too early to try this path and cautions her that miracles are uncommon.
Ben is devastated to learn that it was a waste of time and he keeps looking for a solution.
When Lola snaps at Lexi Pearce (Isabella Brown) at home, she realizes she’s letting her diagnosis take over her entire world and feels terrible about it.
Ben is advised by Jay to make this Christmas special because it might be their final one together.
After reconciling, Lola and Lexi begin plaiting each other’s hair, but when Lexi pulls out her mother’s hair, she is horrified.
Lola is shocked by the incident and horrified to think about the bleak future she faces and what her daughter will have to endure.
Jay assures Lola that he will always love her even if all of her hair falls out as they talk about her thinning hair.
Lola approaches Denise Fox (Diane Parish) at a concert and begs to return to work, adamant that she won’t give up without a fight.
Danielle Harold would be leaving the BBC soap opera, and the cancer plot line would serve as Lola’s swan song, it was revealed back in October.
After receiving her initial prognosis, Lola underwent surgery in the hopes of removing the brain tumor.
However, the procedure was a failure, and she was soon informed that her illness was irreversible.
Lola has vowed to live her life to the fullest with Lexi, Jay, Ben, and the rest of her family since receiving her initial diagnosis.
For the plot, EastEnders collaborated with Macmillan Cancer Support and Brain Tumor Research.
Danielle stated to Metro.co.uk: “Being trusted with a plot like this, which is dear to many people, means a great deal.
“Unfortunately, many of our viewers will be able to relate to Lola’s story, and it has been heartbreaking to speak with and hear the stories from the families affected by brain tumors.
“I’m so lucky to have them; they’ve been so amazing in sharing their experiences with me. Without their assistance, I couldn’t carry out this plot.
She also told The Sun that she was extremely anxious when she first learned that she had been “trusted” with the storyline.
“It’s such a big deal, and their plans are enormous. It’s going to be a very emotional and drawn-out story; it’s very serious. It is a brain tumor, and then surgery is required.
