After the landlord of The Queen Vic swam out to sea thinking Linda Carter needed saving, Linda Carter of EastEnders lost the love of her life, Mick Carter.
On Christmas Day, Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) of EastEnders finally met her childhood sweetheart Mick Carter (Danny Dyer), but their happy ending was cruelly cut short. Speaking to thesuns.info and other media outlets, Linda actor Kellie disclosed the one aspect of her tragic ex-demise husband’s that she would change.
In the Christmas Day episode, after her lies were finally exposed and Mick and Linda were reunited in a touching moment, Janine Butcher (Charlie Brooks) drives away from Walford to avoid being arrested.
Mick and Linda pursue her to some cliffs because they don’t want her to escape the pain she’s caused before finally convincing her to stop the car.
But after a fight breaks out, Linda gets back into the car with Janine to persuade her to turn herself in, but they unintentionally push the vehicle off the cliff’s edge.
Mick dives into the water to save his pregnant wife, then returns to the water to save Linda, not realizing that his ex-wife has already surfaced.
Before Mick’s final scene, the two hugged and confessed their continued love for one another as they shared a kiss.
The important episode and her character’s touching reunion with the landlord of The Vic were discussed by Linda star Kellie.
“I’m very bad at being objective and being able to sort of sit back and watch something that I’m involved in,” the EastEnders star admitted.
“I thought the episode was really brilliant as a whole, and I think it’s a really good Christmas episode,” the viewer said.
“The latter part of the episode obviously involves an awful lot of stunt people, and not a lot of us, so I’m always intrigued by that.
“I’m always curious as to how that’s going to work, how it’s going to cut together because our bit is so disjointed, it’s really sort of a bitty thing to film so I love watching all of that.”
Kellie continued: “The scene that I was holding out for was the scene between Mick and Linda and if I could have made that 10 times longer I probably would have done.
“But it had to fit within the episode and it was a beautiful moment.
“The last episode’s filming for me was filled with so much genuine, raw emotion.
“I’m honored to have participated in it. At Christmastime, I adore EastEnders. I enjoy recording it. Being a part of it is wonderful. Since that was when we first joined the show, it always feels special and has indeed come full circle.
The “reunification” of Mick and Linda was “really important,” according to executive producer Chris Clenshaw.
The love of each other’s lives is ingrained in these two characters, according to their history, he said.
“And what was what was what was a challenge for us was to find a way to exit Mick while keeping hold of Linda because this Mick wouldn’t leave Linda and wouldn’t leave his kids so that was incredibly difficult but we did reconcile them. I think that’s a beautiful moment.
“It’s been so long since we’ve seen that and it’s so beautiful and it just it takes you back to to those years where they were so gorgeous.
“So while it was one scene and two kisses. I think it’s a beautiful way to end their story and their journey and as I think Danny said it is ultimately it’s a love story that end tragically.”
