EastEnders star Kellie Shirley has announced she is pregnant at the age of 41 with her husband Phil Davies.
Kellie Shirley, who is best known by soap fans for playing Carly Wicks in BBC soap EastEnders, has announced her “shock” pregnancy. The actress, who is already a proud mum to twins, is happy to be welcoming another child with husband Phil Davies.
As she posed with her adorable seven-year-old twins Louie and Pearl, the star made the exciting announcement.
After admitting it was a “shock” to be pregnant once more given that she “barely sees her husband,” she also revealed the new baby’s gender.
Kellie revealed that she is expecting a boy and said that her kids’ reactions to the news were very different.
Pearl was overjoyed and drew adorable little cards and a welcome kit.
But Louie sobbed, “Oh, you’ll love the baby more than I will!”
But she added that he was beginning to see sense.
Kellie continued by describing how she was shocked to learn she was pregnant because it was not at all what she had anticipated.
The actress suddenly started to feel ill while filming the CBeebies show Biff & Chip in Manchester, and a doctor speculated that she might be pregnant.
Phil, a writer, and his wife Kellie anticipate the birth of their son in March of next year.
The actress from Croydon played Carly Wicks in EastEnders for two years before leaving in 2008 and then reappearing for a brief, dramatic storyline in 2012.
She left a lasting impression on viewers during her time on the show because she participated in romantic arcs involving Martin Fowler (James Alexandrou), Jake Moon (Joel Beckett), and Sean Slater (Robert Kazinsky).
Despite the fact that it has been ten years since her last appearance on the Square, she admitted to New! Magazine in 2020 that she would eventually make a comeback because she believes her character still has “unfinished business.”
“My on-screen family are still in it – Danny Dyer [Mick Carter] plays my brother and Linda Henry [Shirley Carter] is my mum,” she said.
“There’s always unfinished business in Walford, but if ‘In the Long Run’ gets another series then I’m signed up to do that.
“If there’s a really juicy storyline then of course I’d love to go back to ‘EastEnders’.”
After leaving the soap, Kellie has gone on to star in many shows and has co-presented programmes for BBC2 and Channel 5.
The actress has also made appearances in popular TV dramas, like Call the Midwife and Death in Paradise.
She also played Kirsty De La Croix in Sky One comedy series In the Long Run, created by Idris Elba.
Her other notable credits include The Office Christmas specials, King of Thieves and Wimbledon.
EastEnders continues tonight at 7.30 on BBC One.
