Keanu Taylor from EastEnders is Phil Mitchell’s arch enemy as a result of his scandalous liaison with Sharon Watts in 2018.
This week, June Brown’s character Dot Cotton (of EastEnders) will be honored with heartbreaking funeral scenes that will unite the Walford neighborhood.
It was a touching episode for both the characters and their actors because the real-life actress Brown passed away in April 2022 at her home in Surrey. After the wake at Sonia Fowler’s (Natalie Cassidy) house, viewers of BBC One were in for a big surprise.
During the last few minutes of the most recent EastEnders episode, viewers saw someone entering Albert Square while carrying a duffel bag.
Then, in a wholly unexpected turn of events, it was made clear that Keanu Taylor (Danny Walters), the oldest son of Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley), had departed in February 2020.
Keanu left the square as Sharon’s party blamed him for the boat party incident that resulted in Denny’s (Blea Landau) death.
How will Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) respond to seeing the man who destroyed his marriage even though it is believed that he has been living in Spain all this time?
The actor Danny Walters looks up to his co-star McFadden, who has been in the soap opera for more than 30 years, despite their ongoing conflict on EastEnders.
At a press event, Walters discussed his relationship with the Phil Mitchell actor and said the following: “Steve [McFadden] is in my opinion one of the finest actors I’ve worked with, I’m sure other actors on this job will say that.
He is such a distinctive actor, and working with Steve has taught me a great deal about acting.
But one thing Walters has learned since entering the EastEnders world is that McFadden can spot when a scene isn’t quite right.
“You have to know your stuff when you come on set, there’s no room for error,” Walters continued. Steve can quickly tell if you don’t know what you’re doing if you don’t know the character, the purpose, everything, what we do before entering the scene, or if you haven’t done your due diligence.
“Steve is a great friend outside of the show, but when we’re on set, we’re working,” I said. “So I’ve learned a lot from him.”
Naturally, their conflict began four years ago when Phil traveled to Spain for business.
Since Phil and Sharon’s marriage had been on the rocks for a while, when the young mechanic Keanu began showing Sharon interest, it resulted in a scandalous affair.
They broke it off when Phil came back and he began dating Louise Mitchell (Tilly Keeper), but in an unexpected turn of events, both of them learned they were expecting Keanu’s children.
When Phil learned that Albie wasn’t his child, he went on the attack and was determined to kill Keanu.
He fortunately managed to flee Walford before it was too late, and he hasn’t seen his family since.
Now that Keanu has returned, Walters claims that he wants to “rekindle” his relationship with Sharon and spend more time getting to know his son Albie.
She might be willing to let Keanu back into their lives, but only time will tell.
And how will Phil respond when he returns and runs into his former employee?
